And what's crazy there doesn't seem to be an upgrade path for Amplitube Max owners?

AmpliTube 4 MAX users can upgrade to AmpliTube 5 or AmpliTube 5 SE if they want only features (and AmplITube 5 adds the new gear, gear included in each is listed on the AmpliTube 5 web page if you need details) as all of your gear will work in AmpliTube 5 per the Specs page:

Yeah, as you can now demo the stuff you're not being given as part of the Max 4 to Max 5 upgrade.....more easily!

If you don't have the seven collections released since AmpliTube 4 MAX you'd be getting those which are worth $680 for $299.99, without even considering the new gear and features of AmpliTube 5 itself.

If you do have those collections or are happy with the gear you have, you can go with AmpliTube 5 SE and use all you have but get the new features.
