Same here.
yegor wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 11:04 am So is Iris 2 still a good tool to use even if it won't be updated anymore?
It's an interesting and unique 'tool', so I would say yes.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I am glad its free so anyone who doesn't have it can see how cool it is. I did pay for IRIS 1 and the update to IRIS 2 and am a bit sad they didn't support or update it....but it works fine.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

i've tried iris, but currently i think it's "dated", so izotope gives it for free. it has a small gui, uses much cpu, it's not easy to install all of its sound libraries, etc...
imho other free ones like odin, dexed, surge are much better.

Not that I am disagreeing with you, but its a fairly recent product...still being advertised and sold for by iZotope 150 bucks...https://www.izotope.com/en/products/iris.html

PS- GUI is resizable (drag it) but not scalable

those are completely different kinds of synths (VA/FM vs spectral/sample-based)

Exactly! That's why a lot of us like IRIS, especially for free

You are thinking of Stutter Edit 2?

But it's a sample player with effect processing and modulation, not a synth. Rather a nice tool for sound sculpting and design!

Sad that I bought it for $10 two months ago when it's completely free now but so far I really like it, all I need is more time for sound design!

'Sad'?
That's what you pay for a cheap a$$ quick lunch or a metro ticket in many parts of the world. I paid way more than that some years ago and don't regret a single cent ... just saying ...

Sadness is NOT that bad that I were lying beside my Iris 2, crying and regretting everything, thirsting for a $10 McDonalds meal :!:

Double - no idea how that happened...

Meal priced synths seem to be the new health care system. It prevents musicians from eating bad food, maybe even from smokin‘... Giving away great synths for free is killing - worse than rejecting a mask... :x
But there is a cure, donate a meal for every free synth you play...
