Did you already own three quarters of the tele that you wanted to buy? And was that the same price for someone who didn't own any part of the tele?
Well my Strat has a neck, and frets, pickups and tuners... just like the Tele. It's practically like buying it all over again. Plus I replaced the pickguard and just put new strings on my Strat. I told the rep all this, and I told him I refused to buy his overpriced Telecaster. He just said 'OK' and sold it to someone else. What a jerk.

I think what you are missing is it's an unreasonable comparison, guitars are not software...the world of selling and buying guitars is far from the world of selling software in many ways. Each has it's own traditions, ways and things the people have come to expect. Every company has choices as well, part of this thread seems to be IK does this everytime...so why are people surprised?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

This is literally the first time as an IK user of many years that I've actively awaited a new version of a full product I own, so the lack of proper upgrade versions did come as a surprise to me.

Yup. This ^^ Your investment is the guitars will last a lifetime and increase (unless you pull an -old Peter Townsend on them). Your investment in software is money thrown in the wind.

I think it all really comes down to how much of AT 4 you own. The guys that just bought AT 4 Max 3 weeks ago got shafted the worst IMO. Very crappy low blow move by IKM. You screwed your customers. You should given them a grace upgrade or something to show good faith.

Hi Peter,

Do you know when the intro price will stop working?
Will IK release new videos to get an idea of the new amps?

Thanks

I bought V4 MAX based on what it offered, with zero expectation
of a V5 in the future, or even of IK keeping the business alive.
I still have much of MAX4 to explore , and no disappointments soundwise, so 2021 will likely be a CS V5, as I've no time for the modern collections in MAX 5, and need computer upgrades more than a taller stack of idle software. In that vein, I'll also pass up on the
koming komplete kollapse sales for the same reason.
Cheers

(but I maintain a weighty 'change-jar', for the no-brainer sales
from plugin boutique, and small-shop devs.

I agree. I got MAX4 as well and there is so much there. I only play small guitar parts here and there so I don't need the absolute best thing. Not to mention no one knows how demanding A5 is going to be. No offense to IK (and really this goes for all developers), I'm not gonna keep upgrading my software, then have to upgrade my whole computer every 3 or 4 years for this minute difference in sound that eats my computer processing power for lunch with 1 track just because its the new best thing. When I started making music in 1998 I had WAY less than what I do now. And it was like that for about 6 years until I got my 1st computer. Yes, tech has come a long way, but at some point I have to use it and not just keep buying stuff.

Wait... so a KVR moderator is disparaging IK Multimedia’s reputation in the public forum?

Is it the official position of KVR management that IK Multimedia is a disreputable company now?

I believe clarification is in order.

Hi, the introductory pricing is good through the end of the year. We will have more videos coming and I see one is slated to cover the new gear including the amps.

However, I just opened another video and now that I have read your post I wish it was the one with the amps but alas it is not (yet). This one covered AmpliTube 5 In-Depth: GUI - Chain, Gear Selector, Gear View and is hopefully interesting to some nonetheless:

It's like watching a meth-hed playing the slots in a casino :hihi:
Or like the first or last lap of a NASCAR race. Lots of drag-n-drop
in those cultures, too :dog:

But I think the software will survive the videos.
May IK live long and prosper
