The Amazon pedals come without a box (let alone extras like velcro, or even a cable, Chinese brands often provide).
Ryan Burke (Youtube channel "60 cycle hum") thought they were rebranded Kokko-and-such.
They seem rather expensive (earlier this year, I bought a Rowin phaser for €9,55 from Amazon lol).
(Also, in general, beware the brand Amazon Basics: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/09/10/busi ... index.html)

^^
What do they need to wise up? Do they need fatalities and lawsuits?
I suppose better standards during manufacture and testing would be the goal.

Some nice pedal history in this.
Intro sounds like The Girl from Ipanema but with a different melody.
EDIT
Budget pedals into a 4K amp using a 4k guitar - not really a real world scenario.

Any suggestions for a pedal that can sound anything like a decent driven amp (e.g., Marshall) ? For both humbuckers and single-coils, and many styles of playing.
This will go before - essentially - a "headphone amp" kind of pedal. So yeah, it doesn't need a "boost" option, of course. My actual amp doesn't require any such thing, and this won't be going before that anyway.

Something tells me that JHS video will end up selling a lot of NUX Horseman (Klone) pedals.

- There are many, many MIAB (Marshall In A Box) pedals out there.kvotchin wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 12:38 pm Any suggestions for a pedal that can sound anything like a decent driven amp (e.g., Marshall) ? For both humbuckers and single-coils, and many styles of playing.
I own 2: Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret (a very well liked Plexi-to-early-70s-Marshall-Super-Lead-and-Super-Bass, or so I'm told) and Boss/JHS Angry Driver (the JHS half simulates a JCM800).
But there are many, many others... AMT comes to mind.
- There are IR pedals, too... my Two Notes includes an amp sim.

The best I've found is the BK Butler Tube Driver. It isn't an amp-in-a-box and doesn't have cabinet emulation but it's perfect for making amp emulation pedals and plugins sound and react more like real tube amps. The Ibanez TK999US, which was actually made by BK Butler for Ibanez, doesn't sound as amp-like but has lower noise, has a useful midrange control, and sells for half the price. I usually use my Tube Driver at low gain (there's no significant noise until it gets past 10 o'clock) with the TK999US or other pedals boosting into it for higher gain.kvotchin wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 12:38 pm Any suggestions for a pedal that can sound anything like a decent driven amp (e.g., Marshall) ? My amp in a pedal is a Blackstar HT-DUAL. It is very flexible with the ISF knob doing a great job of varying the amp type.kvotchin wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 12:38 pm Any suggestions for a pedal that can sound anything like a decent driven amp (e.g., Marshall) ? My headphone amp pedal is a Palmer Pocket Amp Mk2. My favourite pedal to go with it is the Hotone Grass, which is supposed to be dumbley sounding. However, the best pedal for ampish sounds IMO is the Buddha ZenMan. It’s also very flexible.
For Marshall sounds, I have a Guv’nor Plus (GV-2). It does everything I want and I’ve not found anything better, though there probably are quite a few (Suhr, MI etc). Even so, it’s a good place to start at a reasonable price.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Much appreciated, and will look into those.
I did leave out one detail, sorry! Whatever it is will be going into my ADA GCS3 specifically. Which is a cab sim pedal with headphones out, more or less. I use it as a headphones out thing, anyway.
So, this is why the amp end of the sound is what I need, as opposed to the cab, or both.
Not that the GCS3 sounds anything like my actual cab, lol. But it will do. :p

eBay have Valeton Coral Verb II pedals for £25. They are listed at £29.99 but there was a £5 discount applied at checkout. This wasn’t shown anyway so I don’t know why.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124099983949
Anyway, looks like a good pedal to try some reverb in my chain. The mode list is:
STUDIO - Simulates the acoustics of a studio
ROOM - Simulates the acoustics of a room
HALL D - Simulates the acoustics of a dark hall
HALL B - Simulates the acoustics of a bright hall
PLATE W - Simulates a plate reverberator with warm decay
PLATE B - Simulates a plate reverberator with bright decay
SPRING M - Simulates a spring reverberator with mellow, smooth decay
SPRING B - Simulates a spring reverberator with bright, sharp decay
CHURCH 1 - Simulates the acoustics of a church with darker decay
CHURCH 2 - Simulates the acoustics of a church with brighter decay
MOD - Produces a reverb effect with a lush, modulated sound
CLOUD - Produces a reverb effect with rolling, cloud-like decay
GALAXY - Produces a reverb effect with cold, sci-fi style decay
UNDERSEA - Produces a reverb effect with deep, gloomy decay
SHIMMER - Produces a reverb effect with pitch shifted shimmering tone
SWEEP - Produces a reverb effect with a sweeping filter

I’ve been completely let down by PT2399 reverbs, even the ones made by boutique companies like Hermida. IMO, you’re better offer spending a little more for a Hall Of Fame Mini.

^ I’d rather take my chances on one I can quickly get a broad range of sounds. The HOF mini is 3x the price and looks a hassle, i.e. more than turning a knob, to change algo.
I have much better ones to record with, this is just for playing around.

The TC Hall of Fame 2 Reverb seems a better choice and not much more than the mini. Nice features stereo and tone print.
