No VST2 because Brian started working on this after Steiny pulled VST2 availability for new plugin developers.

I have vst 3 capable hosts ( loomer architect ,studio one , reaper ) but 90% of the time I work in renoise ( which doesn't have it yet)
Anyway , plasmonic is the best thing that came out in a long time , so organic sounding and versatile

IIRC Bidule (stand-alone and plugin) and perhaps others hosts is a VST2 and VST3 modular host and can host VST2 and VST3 plugins. I suppose you know this already but posting just in case not.

The GUI is a a disaster, there's something wrong with text scaling/antialiasing and contrast, and it literally hurts my eyes. Not a single thought has gone into the overall design. At 149 moneys, this disregard to usability is unacceptable.
It sounds great tho.

I sent an email to Rhizomatic and asked as politely as I could, to have either a different optional lighter/clearer theme, or the ability to skin the synth, or even just the old GUI as an alternative skin..jon wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 9:42 am The GUI is a a disaster, there's something wrong with text scaling/antialiasing and contrast, and it literally hurts my eyes. Agreed!zvenx wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 6:31 pm With the right intro price I would buy this just for the arovane and biomechanoid patches.
Exceptional patches those imho. They really captured the essence of the synth to me.

This is what happens when you don't take graphic design and UX seriously - UI nightmare both in terms of interaction design, readability and aesthetics. Madrona Labs is an example of how a small dev can do minimalist design right.

I already got an answer from Brian.
He was very nice and said he's open to the idea of a lighter/clearer theme.
Maybe it could be made a choice in the settings further on.

He told me it's inspired by the representation of decimal numbers (higher value on the left of the decimal point, lower value to the right of the decimal point), although he said he got this "objection" a few times already because of how it translates to vertical sliders.machinesworking wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 10:56 pm I agree about the course and fine adjustments, weird choice.

That's a bold claim and downright insulting to the developer
I instantly found my way around the synth when it comes to signal flow and modulation
So he must have done something right , no ?
I agree about the gradient colours , that's my only gripe ..all the rest is top notch

damn , the solution was right under my nose , running loomer architect (hosting vst'3) as a vst plugin inside renoiseEvilDragon wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:39 pm No VST2 because Brian started working on this after Steiny pulled VST2 availability for new plugin developers.
Edit ..doesn't work with plasmonic , but works with other vst's 3

Definitely not the biggest fan of a few of the GUI choices - I'm all for innovation, but e.g. the coarse/fine slider thing isn't working great for me at first.
It sounds fantastic though - scratching that Kaivo/Chromaphone itch but with quite a different technical approach. With the disappointment that is Chromaphone 3 I could definitely see myself picking this one up...

Well I disagree. Grouping the controls according to function or drawing lines to show the signal flow does not require much thought, but he's decided to neglect the basics of visual design- spacing, rhythm and readibility. The choices regarding gradients and elements make no sense, what purpose do the gradients, rectangles inside rounded rectangles and the weird thing lines in the faders have? And the sliders have strange artifacts behind the text.
But worst is the rendering of the whole thing, especially the text, I get nausea from trying to use it.
Even if this might sound offending, this is honestly the worst GUI on a plugin I've seen in at least a decade, and not what is expected from a premium-priced flagship synth. Sorry, but it is what it is.

This is 2020.
Its time for new ways of Digital Synth Plugins and i`m happy that this is not a minimoogX!
But it sounds like the Yamaha VP1
First respect Brian for your comeback.
I hope in the future its not only a Scuplture 2 so please look more at the Korg Z1.
What we need in the virtual world is:
Yamaha TG77-FS1r(CS-80)
Kawai K5000
Ensoniq Fizmo
Korg Z1-o1W
Roland-D70-VSynth
U-he Zebra3
Image-Line Harmor2 for Mac!
Developers we need DIGITAL synths and new ways of inspiration without wavetables again and again.
Don't forget PCM in combination of fm and additive.
Don't forget elastic audio like in the V-Synth.
Thank you,
Mario
