I'm really curious if they fixed HiDPI or it's typical 'somehow fixed but only partially'. Can't wait to hear the feedback from 4K users :)

Post

This actually is better than 20GB of ISO.
No it's not if you're upgrading from a previous versions. But YMMV.

Also, the "Assistant" does resume files. So instead of running one installer and then say what I want installed, what not to, and especially where, I have to do this 30 times... manually, along with agreeing to the TOS again, etc. What an improvement. :tu:

I'll sit this one out until end of the week. Maybe then we have an ISO. And maybe then I'll also have answers to my questions above

I'm sort of split between the two opinions. I'd also prefer an all in one installer, but, if you uninstall Cubase, it should remove all the content as well, so you don't have to uninstall every single addon or instrument manually. That sucks big time.

Also, the installer always acted kinda weird here. Sometimes it automatically changed the location you set for the different components again. I don't know if that is intended behavior, or if it's just buggy/weird.

Anyway, the way Studio One handles addon content is great: From within the application, and, you can always remove content yourself, as it isn't installed/registered or whatever. That's the way to do it, not install dozens of products which you all have to uninstall manually then. Studio One also doesn't clutter your hardware with folders and files, but, that's another story.

I find it pretty annoying to praise the fix of HiDPI issues as a feature over and over again. Maybe this should go into the head of any developer: fixing issues is not a feature

Yeah, for me there should do separate Cubase installer + one for everything else (samples etc).

Btw this Assistant can resume files... sometimes. Assistant failed me at the final few MB to DL and when I chose to resume... it just started downloading from beginning :D Typical modern DL assistant which sometimes work ;)

Uninstaller sucks, true. It triggers my OCD (which I don't have) when I see this huge list of Steinberg apps/content in Uninstaller window.

It never happened to me after they give option to relocate addons. All the 'junk' is on separate HDD to keep my OS drive tidy. So far with every change/reinstall it keeps file locations that I set before.

C11 makes Studio One looks way more interesting to me. If I find that it has all the features that I'm using Cubase for, I may consider the change of DAW. Or just wait for C11.5 because often x.5 version has more new features than major version.

Has somebody a link to the complete changelog (PDF)?

Absolute nightmare here - the eLicenser update failed leaving the Cubase 10.5 licence in a "transfer pending" state. When I tried to recover I got an error from eLicenser Control Center saying that it can't connect to the license server. It turned out that this was due to the download assistant still being open after it failed to upgrade the licence. When I closed that I was able to recover with eLicenser Control Center and the licence appeared as Pro 11.

That's the last time I'll ever allow Activation from the Download Assistant. I just hope that the update is worth the stress!

Aah... can you explain this? Does the download assistant also have access to the eLicenser or automatically register new purchases?

It was confusing.
The code they send is to download the activation code, not the actual code itself.
So do not run e licenser software.
Just enter the code you receive in the download assistant top area and follow the instructions.

The download assistant is an abomination now, for sure. It now even asks for a login to your MySteinberg account, after that it does a checkup on your eLicenser and updates drivers without asking if you're okay with that... uhm... why?

Meanwhile, the support homepage doesn't list downloads yet. So I expect an ISO dropping regardless. So everyone accessing the Download Assistant now, is basically going the "super-duper early adopter route". Steinberg didn't even post on Social Media about Cubaes 11 yet.

Did you try the link in the OP?
yep, and a few minutes later it was on the front page, and the main page of cubase 11 is now online, but if you check features; still 10.5 features, i think, or i don't see it.

mainly interested (besides ARA2 improvements; spectralayers pro 7) in side-chaining routing possibilities. i can't see nothing about it yet. but video's will be released soon, by YT'bers...

i think i will wait, for the first time, for 11.5. the new features are good, i hope also some optimilisation (when reports drop in from users that it outperforms pro 10.5 on windows... than...)).

i already wanted to wait, for a first time. because, cubase is still my main DAW, i like it, very much, but it is not always necessary to keep up. and in the end i will have pro 11.5 or 12. i just take breaks..

I read some confusing comments in the Steinberg forum that the code is not working in eLicenser and it needs to activate it within the download assistent.
But now it makes some sense.
