Also people like me who live in a country where the credit card needs to be activated personally before each online buy makes it an absolute pain to have subscription, so I would also like to have another option with all the perks paid up front.mtytel wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 2:45 pmYeah what I'll probably end up doing is for things like new plugins is giving them to subscribers and pro users who bought it in the last year or so. Just need to figure out how to communicate that.Inversion Of Control wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 2:36 pmSecond thatwombat778 wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 2:00 pm FWIW, I would be willing to pay more ($100, $120, etc.) for a non-subscription version with all the perks. In my household we have a policy against anything subscription-based except essentials, so I expect to buy Pro. But if there was a way to get the perks without a sub it would be awesome

Fantastic pricing scheme, however description could be better: i had read the whole thread to understand. It is hard to believe that one can get such solid synth for free.

So theoretically someone can pay for 3 months ($15) then cancel and they keep the 400 presets? (assuming subscription gets everything Pro version has)mtytel wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:52 pmYou don't need the subscription to use Vital. The subscription gives you access to perks and let's you use the money you spend on the subscription to buy more presets/content. I'll also be dropping any new plugins I make in the future to subscribers (and possibly pro users) firstAdvancedFollower wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:22 pmLooks like it. However after 16 months of the subscription you still have to continue paying indefinitely to keep using the plugin. For example, it's $300 if you plan to use the plugin for the next 5 years on a subscription.Buckster wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 11:39 am Looks and sounds great I'll likely buy - I look forward to it
Is it me though or does subscription look better bet than Pro ? As don't seem to get the access to new apps/features with Pro and your 5 a month on subscription gives you 16 months for same price as Pro
You can cancel anytime and still use Vital and all the presets you have.

Yeah, it's a bit unclear. Does the subscription version come with the 400 presets from Pro? If so, why not just subscribe for $5, cancel and get $80 of value?l33t4e wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:26 amSo theoretically someone can pay for 3 months ($15) then cancel and they keep the 400 presets? Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Just make the synth one fee. This pricing scheme is killing your own business before it even started.

Wow. It already is free, which is incredibly generous. You can pay more for a few extra things, and to support the developer.dionenoid wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:22 pm Just make the synth one fee. This pricing scheme is killing your own business before it even started.

Sometimes making money isn't the only thing that matters. The pricing is great, whats not great is your aggression.
I am also a person who likes open source projects, but i am also a software developer. It pisses me off when people misuse the generosity of the developer. When a developer is being so generous to give a complete synth for free, its only right for you to support the dev by purchasing the full version if you can afford it. The last thing a person likes to hear after being so generous is to get advised on how to do business.

No the website will be more clear on release. To clarify now though, the subscription is like a 'build your own preset library' type of deal. You get the base pack, (plus an extra subscription only pack) then you can use the subscription payment to add banks from the store.l33t4e wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:26 amSo theoretically someone can pay for 3 months ($15) then cancel and they keep the 400 presets? What aggression ? The KISS principle is the nr. 1 rule in sales, and actually in music production too.Paree wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:47 pmSurely, you know better than a guy who spent 3+ years creating this right?dionenoid wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:22 pm Just make the synth one fee.
