The most majestically annoying feature of the Download Assistant licence activation is that you can't even copy the real activation code from the activation pop-up to use in eLicenser. So if you want to avoid the risk of what happened here you'd need to manually type the code into something like notepad and then shut down the Download Assistant to do the activation reliably in eLicenser Control Center. 10/10 for that - thanks Steinberg!Compyfox wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:23 pm The download assistant is an abomination now, for sure. It now even asks for a login to your MySteinberg account, after that it does a checkup on your eLicenser and updates drivers without asking if you're okay with that... uhm... why?
Cubase 11 available now

eLicenser update failed for me too, but it offered me the option to skip the update (after a looong wait).
I purchased the upgrade to 10.5 in july, when I enter it in eLicenser Control it says "Cubase Pro 10.5". If I proceed (using the DL assistant recommended above instead), will I get Cubase 11 or 10.5?

I purchased the 10.5 a while back, but due to outside pressures never got round to installing or activating. Would I in theory get the grace period upgrade if I install and activate the code now?
Either way, I'm really happy about the curves in the CC editor, that's literally the last thing I've wanted in Cubase for a while now. Scary thing when you no longer have any FRs...

Yes purchasing gets you a code that you enter into the Download Assistant which it uses to generate a full activation code which could be used in eLicenser CC. You can see the code but you can't copy it to paste into eLicenser CC, and even if you could, eLicenser CC appears to be blocked from connecting to the licence server if you'd left Download Assistant running. You get a message giving you the helpful advice to check your network settings.4damind wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:32 pmI read some confusing comments in the Steinberg forum that the code is not working in eLicenser and it needs to activate it within the download assistent.ozinga wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:23 pm It was confusing.
The code they send is to download the activation code, not the actual code itself.
So do not run e licenser software.
Just enter the code you receive in the download assistant top area and follow the instructions.
But now it makes some sense.

Thanks for the infos guys, after several tries and asked to check my network settings, I pasted the Activation Code into the Download Assistant & it seemed to work.
eLicencer was telling me it still wasn't working, I then realized that the 10.5 update (that I bought this morning:) had been turned into a Cubase 11 Licence on my elicenser.
What's interesting is that on MySteinberg account, I still have Cubase 10 listed & not 11, will see if it gets updated.

I finally got off the train last year. Steinberg just keeps adding more marketing bloat features, yet we are still stuck with the mediocre "fixed theme" gui coloring system that was downgraded years ago for whatever reason God knows. I can't stand it any more, and by the way...skinny scrollbars stink!!!

@fandango: This question pops up at least 10 times per upgrade thread, and the answer is always: YES
So who in here already installed it and has a 8+ CPU Core rig (as in: 10 cores, 12 cores, 16 cores)? Can you confirm that all cores are being utilized?
If "Replace audio in video" is still not there, I got an alternative. But the usable CPU Core amount is an important topic to me.

The new chord stuff looks good in the Midi Editor. To be fair, I think this has been in FL Studio and Reaper for some time now, but it's nice to have it in Cubase as I never really got on with the Chord Track.

Actually they made it worse in windows. Cubase11 is huge (2-3x) at my current windows settings while 10 looks right (1x).

That is not "replace audio in video", this is "render new video". Since Cubase 10, it always renders a new video. You can not(!) replace audio like it's possible with Logic Pro X.zvenx wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 3:02 pm Replace Audio in Video is there, but didn't that come back in 10.5?

So that didn't change - still... grrrr... so probably Nuendo will get it first, for free, again. And then Cubase like 2 paid versions later (maybe). Doesn't matter - I have a reliable workaround that doesn't even need Windows 10's in order to even be allowed to "Render".
One question down, one more to go with the 8+ Physical CPU Core usage.
(do we really not have any 10, 12 or even 16 core users in Windows here?)

Sorry for the sarcasm, but here have you been since Cubase 7?
