funny how the discussion is about critizising the critisizing in the first place and not what was exactly critizised and why. only shit i read is more or less well enough hidden versions of the good ol conservatives "shut the f**k up and dribble" mentality.
its all about the formal aspects of rites, not the content...well anyway in a few years, party over oops out of time

I also don't get it.

What's the actual issue here? More to the point, what are people complaining about?

Post

people just dont like paying for anything anymore cause they're spoilt rotten. they get everything else for free so why not updates

Post

They should just buy FL Studio and enjoy free updates forever. I have been enjoying mine for two decades!

Wow- sales are to bait people to buy things...the Bastards!

To be fair, Live 10 was released in 2017, Live 11 will be released in 2021, 4 years later. People who bought the update at a sale price 3 years after it was released should have expected this...I know I did...the main thing is the new 11 update is reasonably priced (IMHO) so I have no objection.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

$159 US for what should have been 10.5?? Seriously???

You need money to be in Ableton’s ecosystem. It’s expensive to buy, the updates are expensive, the Push is expensive. If you want a cheap DAW Ableton ain’t it.

I haven’t checked all of the DAW prices recently but I’m fairly certain Ableton Suite is one of the most expensive, but they seem to be selling at those prices as they rarely discount heavily and yet Ableton is one of the most popular DAWs.

While true, I will stick with Ableton 10. Still works fine...no pressing need to upgrade. It does what I need.

The new features won’t appeal to everyone, you should be able to upgrade to 12/13/etc for only a minor increase in cost so don’t feel like you’re missing out. I know people that are still using Live 9, plus I saw online that someone is still using Live 8.

10 finally came out in Feb 2018 and probably 11 will in Jan/Feb 2021. That's 3 years, not 4.

If Ableton wants to go for the same release cycle as the others, this will shorten to 2 years even. :)

If they update too often, many people may not upgrade.
