Very nice, I liked it a lot. Personally I would have liked a bit more tonal variety, but very serene
and cinematic. Definitely it was creating Indian or middle eastern scenery in my head.

I get what you mean - would generally be my preference as well...not many of my pieces are naturally this ambient and 'still'!

I went for the totally static tonality simply because of the meditative subject matter of the project...it seemed the best fit.

Embrace Me Arunachala:

Well, that starts a bit scary and noisy. And then it develops into
a strange, Far Eastern scenery. The song seems like a journey
into a distant, unknown world.

At around 3:00 minutes, a jazzy freely played e-piano kicks in
and brings a nonchalance to the scenery. Noises, female voices
and e-piano interweave in a spacious, relaxed atmosphere and
pearl along the timeline.

At the end, some strange noises arise again and perform strange
panorama runs.

All in all: a remote song that likes to evade classification. Precisely
because it is so unusual and because it inspires a fantasy journey,
I enjoyed it very much. It's a pulchritudinous 6-minute trip.

Love it. Mysterious oriental trip with a twist. Twist is in the metallic and industrial fx of the percussion.
Could have been longer in my opinion, but maybe in combination with other tracks it adds up to a longer aural journey?

Anyway, I liked it a lot.

My music has been called many things over the years - some positive, some neutral, some negative, but I believe that's my first 'pulchritudinous'!

This one never completely clicked with me. There are a lot of heavily reverbed metallic scraping noises which are not my favorite kind of sounds. Eventually these metallic sounds become more rhythmic and a cool tabla groove kicks in. We are jamming on piano and the groove seems like it should go into overdrive any second! But then .... the groove suddenly disappears and we are back into mysterious, metal-scrapey land.

There is some impressive work here but from my perspective it didn't feel like there was a satisfying conclusion to this piece.

Hi Frantz - as I've hinted at in earlier posts in this thread...I'm not 100% sure about it myself...wrote it in July and then forgot about it once the project was done!

That'll be the bells from the original cacophonous field recording after loads of granular processing...had to be in there as that was part of the project agreement...personally I love bells + the sounds they can create once processed, but I also know that they're NOT for everyone at all!

Yeah, I get that as well...me personally (as you probably might've worked out from other tracks) I do tend to develop ideas hugely with the music reaching big peaks etc...my natural inclination was to do that here as well, but it just wouldn't have been a good fit with the background context (sacred Mountain renowned for meditation, reflection and contemplation) so I kept everything deliberately much more chilled and static.

Musically (without context) I think that makes it maybe potentially less satisfying and 'whole'?

In context - the inner search and other such philosophical musings, I think it probably works better, on balance.

Might actually be very interesting to do a 2nd more developed, expansive arrangement...hhhm, thinking about it already?

I understand the constraints of the original piece. I would happy to be hear a more developed version with perhaps more focus on the groove section.

Messed around with some basic ideas this evening..it'll work...made a few notes...hopefully get time to develop it after I complete a couple of BIG projects that are doing my head in at the moment!
