dont use trillian (or any spectrasonic symths) but i will say there are lots of cheaper, even free ways to get a good synthbass. (Charlatan, Elektro)
will also say that using samples for synthbass is kind of lame when
theres real analog VA's out there.
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

I generally wouldn't use samples for synth bass either, but I think the Trilian sample sets are unique enough that I really like it. There's some real analog grit and gnarliness to a lot of it that's hard to get with VA's.

Trilain still has some good sounds - I still use their upright basses occasionally. It ain't broke.

I forgot that I do use the uprights. Don't use the electrics at all since I can play my own bass. When I go back and listen to the Spectrasonics demos I'm inspired all over again.

I've always liked the uprights, but have never liked or used any of the other sounds. I'm a bass player too, but for me it's almost always quicker and easier to just write and render a MIDI track.

Since it seems the OP is referring mainly to the analog side, I'll offer two that give a great amount of bottom end and punch.

u-he ACE
RP SubBoomBass 2

And since the RP also has Karplus-Strong, it's very effective in most bass needs for many.

And as far as "awesome"?
"What isn't" nowadays is a smaller list.

I did't expect this at all. Looking forward to watching the video later.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

fantastic :tu: (and think about what other companies would have charged for such an update)

Made me reinstall Trilian again after years of not using it

I still have the Trilian licence in my Spectrasonics account but they only have USB installation drives for sale. I wouldn't mind checking out the update
They used to have an option to buy a download at the Spectrasonics Techshop. Maybe just email them to see whether they still offer it - I can't think of a good reason why they'd remove it as an option given that it wouldn't be that tricky or costly to handle using AWS.

I see that they are claiming windows multi-touch support in the improvements for Trilian 1.5. I wonder if this is a straight up lie like with Omnisphere. I emailed Spectrasonics support about this asking why they claimed this for Omnisphere and they answered something about how they didn't mean multi-touch, just that you could use it on a multi-touch monitor or something. I pointed out that absolutely any plugin or software can be used on a multi-touch monitor, and there is nothing about omnisphere that is compatible at all, it's single touch like anything else. So if they are now claiming this for Trilian as well, then that is truly dishonest.
