Yes they had one button mice, you don't have to go back to 1985 for that.
they produced mice with only one button up to 2005.

my mighty mouse wiki link says that the 2005 mighty mouse is the FIRST Apple multi-button mouse ever.

That blog post should win the 'Vague Non-Referenced Blog Post of the Year 2013' award.

Great source!
The point was, there were one button Mac mice, long since PC's had 2 button mice. Which is pretty retarded. Same with that one button mouse, which was clickable on both sides (my mom had one of those, and, years went until I realized that you could actually click on both sides. Showed how much Apple was still stuck in their vision of the ultimate operation... with one click! ;)).

Thanks. I knew it wasn't that far back, otherwise I couldn't have remembered.

Anyway, Apple finally realized that there was a point to having 2 buttons, so. :)

I have PC too, after few years it's worthless and can't be upgraded that much because Intel change sockets as socks, limit the RAM you can use with any of their CPU
Have you tried AMD?
than AMD rises from ashes and let you use their good value CPU's on older mobo's, but they are still hated
I think you need to catch up, it's late 2020 and AMD dominates on pro/desktop market :smack:
That's a gamers view. Intel have 80% of the market for business, AMD has 20%. Its taken AMD a long time to get into that market. ARM on desktop or laptop will take longer. I work in IT and it amuses me that people think ARM will suddenly take over. AMD has weird hardware and software compatibility problems that stop its widespread use. The same will be true of ARM on laptop and desktop.
As a developer I can confirm a serious hardware bug in the Athlon X2. The timers of the two cores were not running properly in sync. This caused weird crashes and deadlocks with multicore software. But that's more than a decade ago.

After using an Intel I7 for many years (was very happy with it), I recently switched to an AMD Ryzen 3800 on my development machine. I am very very satisfied with it. It is extremely stable and fast. It offers outstanding performance for VST plugins and compiling.
I am using also a Ryzen CPU in a laptop. It is also very stable and fast.
My gaming machine still has an I7. It will be replaced with a Ryzen 5800 next year.

As so often these days, it's wishful thinking. Although I never quite got it. Wonder what people think will happen if AMD one day will dominate the market. Press and media will probably try to push Intel or others then, like they do with AMD at the moment. :D

The AMD CPU's I had in my life were fine. Solid budget options. Their (or rather ATI's) graphics cards were the biggest crap though. One didn't even take the official ATI drivers.

Yes, people used to talk about it on forums. Well done you!
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

When did Apple's OS allow right-click (i.e. for 3rd party mice?), I wonder. I'm guessing as long as control-click has been a thing as one leverages the other.

I ported my first plugins to OSX 10.4 when the first intel Macs arrived (maybe 2006?). Back in those days the right mouse-button was already available for programming. I supported it and it was no big deal. But i do not know if other companies also did. For compatibility reasons they might have avoided it.
Unlike on Windows machines thr mouseweel did always properly work on the Mac. It still is tricky to make it properly work on PC (focus problems)

Here are some new more realistic tests with cinebench R23

Even from os9 on mac they responded to right click functionality. For whatever reason apple pushed cntrl +left click which does the same albeit not as elegant imho. And indeed kept making only left click in their mice. But i had a microsoft mouse with right click on my mac since the 90s.

Yes of course one would expect anonymous benchmarks on reddit to be 'more realistic'.

An interesting link for the guys who disliked me, since I dared to predict possible technical problems with the new Macs:

Looks like it did not take 3 months, but only one day to find out that things in the audio-world are broken again

Yeah i will - i don't need dev kit benchmarks in the meantime.
for comparison, dev kit scored 1000 sc / 4500 mc on geekbench native... which is far from 1700/7000 these are pulling
