Yes. With no fan on the entry level model, its designed to slow down when under load, creating a need for more expensive models with fans.
lol what?
it's designed like that because its not designed for heavy load. My mother has the 12" and she likes that it's light, thin, and quiet (since its also passive)

not everyone has the same needs, else everyone would just by 4cm thick gaming laptops and be done with it

Seriously and you don't? Focus your vision.
A lot of people are of the opinion that ARM is somehow inferior to x86 and can’t scale to the high end.
I haven’t seen any evidence to back that up and if anything x86 seems to be less well regarded by those with more technical knowledge.
Keep in mind that Amazon use custom ARM chips of their own design in some of their cloud servers and others also make custom ARM chips for high end servers.

Oh yet another fanboy.
Processors with or without fans are slowing down under the heavy load for last 20 years, even in cellphones.

Seeing as these ARM-powered Macs can run iOS apps, do any of the native DAWs support loading AUv3s?

i never claimed to the contrary. That doesn't mean fan-less design is to COERCE YOU into buying a fanned designed.

Please observe fact that pro and mini has active cooling system and air doesn't i.e. it's contradicting with you've just said (about your mother? =))) ).

Let it go mate. Your use of the word fanboy is making you start to spray a little, not good in times of an airborne virus.

Not going to happen any time soon.

YES, because they're targeted at different demographic for different needs.
it's not designed to slow down under load, it's designed to be quiet at expense of performance. It doesn't create any needs except if you need more power, then you buy a bigger machine with fans. Else you don't. What here don't you understand?

You just rephrased what UltraJv has said.

Facts:
1. All processors are quiet. Cooling systems are not.
2. All modern laptop/desktop processors are literally designed to slow down if they heating too much under the load.
