I found that moving the notes with the up/down arrow keys does not have an effect. I'll try to fix this shortly.
Thanks,
Attila

RapidComposer v4.0b13 is available!

This is the last beta version before v4.0. I hope everyone is satisfied with the stability and the new features implemented in the last 12 months (v3.9b1 was uploaded on November 6th, 2019...).
The author is very grateful for all the contributions, suggestions, bug reports and other feedback.

Improvements:
  • Piano Run Generator has rhythm input
  • Melody Editor renamed to Motive Generator
  • 1/8 division is used when filling tracks with chord with 'join notes' option
  • When adding a new variation in the phrase inspector, it will be added to all selected phrases (even if the lists includes only the variations of the first selected phrase)
  • Color themes updated and cleaned up. New color themes: 'Dark With Orange', 'Katalin Dark'
  • Fixed a bug in the Fingerpicking Generator
  • Fixed dragging phrase generators onto a percussion track
  • Fixed rhythm display in Apply Rhythm
  • Minor fixes and improvements

Thanks for beta 13!

Q: If I drop something labeled as 'Generator' into a track, should I expect to be able to click on the lightning symbol and regenerate a new phrase every time?

Sometimes that works for me (e.g. Ostinato Generator) and sometimes not (e.g. Piano Run Generator).

If all 'Generator's are supposed to allow this, then I think it will be necessary to go thru them and verify each one. If If all 'Generator's are not supposed to allow this, then I think there should be some consistent visual indicator (little "r" maybe) (both in the Phrase pop-up and in the Phrase Browser listing) so the user can know whether to expect "ready to go" regeneration ability or not.

If there are some 'Generator's that load "not ready to go" for regeneration, but which can subsequently be configured to allow regeneration then I would suggest that such default "non-ready" behavior be changed. IOW, if it is capable of regeneration, then it should load in some state that immediately allows regeneration.

I understand from a question I asked awhile back that the presence or absence of randomness has relevancy to this. I'm just advocating that the user's be given a clear indication what to expect. Otherwise, we are left to wonder if we are observing a failure-to-function-bug.

could it be because of the track voicing?

I still have bugs... I emailed a list..

Post

For example, render 4 bars at 1 bar phrase lengths. Now glue those 4 into 1 single phrase, 4 bars long. Double click that phrase and play in the phrase editor. I am getting redraw issues..

Is there any new features for people that like to use their own midi files. RC has a great feature where you can import a full midi songs but what can you do with them once they're imported.

All the generators in RC give you unlimited variations of notes / melodies but is there a way to get unlimited variations of your custom phrases.

To keep it simple here are a couple of midi files basic patterns.
I've been messing around with all different workarounds and variations to achieve this but unfortunately no real joy, so would be grateful for anyone who could try and import these midi files and get them to stay exactly the same after being converted into generators.

Everytime I import a MIDI I always lose the original shape after pressing convert Iv tried every converter available.

RC is great for adding variations to midis in regards to extracting and flipping upside down etc.

The RC really shines when it comes to generators, so it would be great to be able to generate similar patterns from your own midi files rather than the generic patterns that come as standard.

yea, that's not going to work as each generator has a built in shape, so, it will move any midi to that shape.

About all you can do with imported midi, is extract the chords, rhythm and scale. Not counting adding that midi as a phrase in your phrase library.
