Do it and see.
I’m referring to the vst version.
I did not install the standalone.
thanks - I just got it to work - I think it might have been my VPN. Is now installing the presets/wavetables. And... lo and behold as you suggested I closed it down and it now reopens fine
thanks!
Great.
Tomorrow I will install the Standalone as well :phones:

What a great week! First Ableton 11 and now this great Gem of a synth. :D

No problem here on windows 10.
If you are online, it can take some time to verify if an update version is available and Vital is not responding but after a few seconds, Vital becomes alive !
About asio in the standalone version, they are not implemented I think.
Vital is capable to provide some really good classic sounds, with proper gain staging and filters choice with drive adjustment and/or filter freq mod at audio rate. ( Random modulators can create subtle analog variations too )

BTW, I am running Windows 10 with all the latest updates. Standalone works fine. Although I am using Windows Audio in the standalone. No latency issues though and works and sounds just fine. Also using WASAPI Shared in Cakewalk and same result, VST3 works great!

I made a bunch of videos throughout development that I thought were unique or uncommon. Here's the playlist:

thanks for the feedback. what i've seen in the video is not really answering my question, but your aim, to offer vital as free instrument is a fantastic and generous offer.
i will demo this synth, and if it has the stability and degree of cpu usage I prefer, i will invest some and buy one of the options.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

So how do you get the LFOs to free run?
Seems the only option is to sync and use seconds as the unit, but this produces weird aberrations/glitches on Windows and Waveform DAW. As does sync with triplets/dotted. Could be Waveform that's screwy but I've not had this behavior before.

I think I see what's going on and it may be related to Waveform's timing issues, but I've not noticed this with other plugins.

I'm excited for this new plugin! I will probably use the free version until someone does a youtube video going through the presets you get separate from the free version. I'm only saying this because I hear not many people used the stock presets that came from Xfer's Serum.

Although I have a lot of synths already, from Hybrid to Synthmaster to Pigments to Falcon. I haven't really experimented with them much and only found myself playing presets. Probably intimidation/procrastination from learning? IDK. I would say Pigments I played the most because of the pretty GUI and pleasant presets. Not as intimidating as the others, but still not much experimenting.

Vital however, is the first synth that actually made it easy for me to experiment with and fun! I only just bought it today and I already made my first preset while just playing around! Coming from someone that is a total n00b when it comes to making music and sound design in general (literally just started this year!), this is huge! :D

Really liking the design of this; it incorporates the best aspects of lots of synths. The architecture is limited, but the options well thought out such that generally I'm not finding myself hitting routing limits in the same way I do with Pigments. The modulation system is excellent and super-easy to use.

For those who don't want to watch the video (although it's recommended): https://account.vital.audio/inthemix
Thanks for the early access info! At 20 € i couldnt resist :tu:

This is my initial impression:

Pros:

- very flexible
- easy to use
- unique wave bending options
- good visual feedback
- will be availyble for free

Cons:

- can make your CPU boil
- doesnt sound as good as Hive :)
- usability, especially multistage LFO's, not as good as Serum
- adding custom wavetables to the browser is limited to 2000 wavetables

So, is this better than Serum? Well ... it's a great addition to my plugin folder. Serum feels more compact and the multistage LFO's are better: Moving multiple anchors with a selection frame is not possible in Vital. Vital also cant modulate LFO anchors. The visual feedback is good, but not as good as in Serum. Serum displays envelopes and LFO's transparently layered above each other, which is the best solution (and should be copied by all developers :D )

On the other hand, Vital can do a lot of things that Serum cant, so dont get me wrong. Vital is great and will become the most popular free wavetable synth :tu:

Vital is deep, I'm using it for 11 months and I discover new things every day.
It takes time to find the sweet spot when you have access to a lot of different filters, routing... just the effects section can hide some incredible things. I pretty sure Matt will add some incredible new features in a near future.
But for now, it's already a really awesome synthesis system made by only 1 man.
Respect!

Thanks. Hmm he only played a couple of sounds but I can't say I was impressed by that tbh. I'll wait for the free version to test it out.
If you are looking for warm analog sounds I don't think vital is the best synth for that.

Wow, bought and played. The GUI is clear and beautifully animated. The sound... I tried some pads, fantastic ! Tried some modulation combinations too : incredible sound, very pleasant. A 3yo mobile i7 here moreover. Congrats.

Edit: mismatch in processor
