In my opinion using Vital to do "bread and butter" sounds would be like driving a Lamborghini a hundred feet down the street to pick up a quart of milk.

But define "bread and butter". One man's bread and butter is another man's steak and lobster.
Sure, but you're assuming your analogy is perfect (Vital=Racing car). Is it right, though? Isn't it too early to make that assumption? Have you already tried it? Maybe Vital is more like a great all-around SUV, using your analogy again. That's what I'm trying to find out.

Look, I'm perfectly fine if Vital is kind of a niche, specialized synth. It just won't be what I'd like it could be for me. However, it still can be amazing for everybody else, and that's great.

What do you define as bread and butter sounds?
Let's try to make a simple comparison: Do you think Vital is a direct competitor to Massive X (which, IMO, is a amazing all-rounder), or is it more focused in a specific style?

Serum can sound like Diva so I’m imagining this one can do such sounds but do you really need all that cholesterol all the time? :hihi:
yeah, i don't get it. if there are 9 synths that do 'bread & butter' sounds well, and that's what you need... you have 9 choices. but if you want something outside of that, it's great to find options. seems like a win-win to me.
Good to know your thinking, but my question still remais legit: Can it do bread and butter sounds?
let's say it can make astonishing, musical sounds... but can't do fake electric pianos or flutes. who cares? check out the videos, see if it's for you. and if you're looking for 'bread & butter' sounds, and this doesn't do that for you... you have many many other plugins to choose from.

I care. A little more respect, please.
And yes, I did watch all the videos I could find, but there are still very few of them. Could not get to a conclusion.

How about lox and bagel sounds?
:hihi:

I think the question "what do you define as bread and butter sound" was not philisophical. At least not for me.
It is to have the quote of models of patches to try to replicate in Vital, in order to try comparing.
I've not got Diva but i've got MassiveX.
Maybe you can quote bread and butter MassiveX patches, so someone can try to replicate them ?
For me bread and butter patches are synthwavy, for others it's dubstep... Don't know.

BBFG :)

I’d recommend watching the YouTube videos, there’s a few of them now & some of them are pretty detailed.

It’s hard to gage what your bread and butter is.
Your bread and butter might be my turd on toast and vice a versa.

I’ve watch almost every video about Vital, including the long sound design ones, and I think it can do “bread and butter” subtractive, analog sounding sounds just fine. Oscillators are clean and fat, filters are nice. You could also import sampled waveforms from analog synths, if that’s your thing. I’ll buy it later today and test some basic presets.

Brilliant Synth!
All I had hoped it would be :-)
Works great in Bitwig with MPE.

As for bread and butter, yes it can do that. The "InTheMix" presets sound very breadish and buttery to me. Rather boring (for me actually). I wouldn't have paid for them myself, but in the context I didn't mind. (I'm not into EDM anyway).

So my view on the question regarding selling presets: I personally buy only presets that are somehow special, things I feel I couldn't get done myself or that are just so beautiful that I can't help myself ;-)
And they should have good modulation (not just a simple filter cutoff or a vibrato on the mod-wheel).
Also the macros should do something interesting. I expect a certain depth or complexity, even if subtle.
For me the best bank that comes with Vital Plus is the "YY" one, although "Unsystematic Fragmentation" is maybe the best documented and fun to go through - just a bit too much similar things.
Yeah, that's a point too - variety. Too many slight variations of the same turn me off.

But again, I'm not into EDM and most commercial soundsets do nothing for me. I prefer to bake bread myself and am very picky about the butter too... :D
And this thing is really easy to use.

Matt: Congratulations, this is the synth of the year for me personally.  :tu:
Thank you!

Cheers,

Tom

Damn. I guess I might go ahead and send 25$ along. Can I delete the presets?
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

It is the sound that comes from a bread when applying a butter. Can also be sampled.
