This is another drag if you are trying to build something complex. :(

I agree and I think a 'replace'-feature is needed as well - and has already been requested several times - there are a lot of small wrokflow-improvements needed but we are continuing to harrass Jorgen with asking for it - and he really listens :-D 8)

HI

I have always stated that I only 'scrape' the surface of XT, I mainly chain up groups of FX and synths - that and allowing me to use programs like EST in Logic (not any more - Logic's retired) so my ignorance probably shines through!

But one thing is I do have a pretty substantial pool of vst's/vsti's which I don't feel particularly inclined to configure into XT - I admit that it could be done and I would probably end up closer to what I described than I had imagined; but this is my point - that for many perhaps this is a bridge too far?

Thats why I said a more conventional set-up would by default pre-wire all your vst's/vsti's in, the advantage would be no need to go deep!

This is simply my opinion based on a personality that doesn't easily embrace something 'new' - well in respect to host's anyway!

I think people would feel more comfortable with this type of set-up - I wonder how many people are 'frighterned' by XT's seemingly elusive operation?

Anyway, I own XT and may one day travel deep into it's creative bowels - cue 'Sickle666's' very nice head up the batty hole photo  !

you won't give up, will you? :-D

There's no need at all to 'wire' any vst's/vsti's

For god's sake: Please ask next time before you're making any further wrong assumptions about eXT's '
complexity - it can be used like a conventional sequencer - I already told you this months ago and offered you any help you could need to get it up and running. :tantrum:

Post

Oh, and don't forget that by using the main browser you can drag and drop VSTs and have them routed automatically. Drag, drop and play.

Btw, 2 drop modes in sequencer:

1) drop a VSTi on a MIDI track and it will be auto routed
2) drop a VSTi in the part view, a new MIDI track will first be created and then routed to the VSTi

You can even drop XT sampler files (.xts) in te sequencer and everything will be setup automatically...you don't even have to add the sampler :o

don´t wanna hijack this treath , but i think what im gonna ask ask its related , .. and maybe its for the ones who use it for a long time, how its eXt in terms of stability, is good compare to others and when running as stand alone....this the most important point when i look for a software, the rest i very impress, and hope you can give a "positive" answer on this ...

for example, today i download it acid pro 5 demo, i love the way how it looks, ..but i had problems right in the first time i try, maybe its my pc it needs an upgrade, but i give up acid..

Post

I've experienced eXT as rather stable - sometimes it crashes but it doesn't just say 'bye-bye' without any warning like Sonar does for me (Sonar sometimes even crashes while trying to save :-o ) - I´'ve not lost any work yet. :-D

(it's not as stable as Tracktion though which is probably the most stable host in the universe :o ( and the most buggy at the same time :? ))

All I was waiting for was to hear about it.
Within 15 minutes of discovering eXT, I'd
sent my registration.

that's the spirit :-D

i also tried the acid 5 demo today and i must say what an utter crap .
those companies get greedier and greedier .
150 $ for such an upgrade ??? bah !!!
the upgrade to cubase sx3 cost 150 $ and was well worth it as it added some very cool and unique features and just keeps on being a great sequencer app .

and now sony think they can hastily snot out some features that are either two years behind the standard or just some gui changes which make acid look newer .
no improvements (apart from a few ... yeah yeah calm down acid evangelists :hihi: ) , just dissapointing .

now look at ext :
you can see the improvements continuusly , user input is appreciated and often implemented , it's kept clean lean and mean .
it does what it says on the label (ok , a few bugs here and there , since you always have to deal with beta versions , even if it says final).

Still a few "user errors" to sort out :hihi:

Bugs are reported very quickly, hence all the beta versions  well, maybe also the urge to bring new features to the to-the-bone eXT users...

I don't want to sound like a pompous prick, but I'm quite annoyed with some of the unoriginality of these requests. Not that they're not important or useful, but just that most of them can be done already.
