Live 11 - Many bitter comments on their Facebook

So Ableton announces release of their upcoming update few months before and give people discount to pre-order, Kinh ask why would Ableton announce release of an update that early and I answer to take money from most excited users that will beta test it and to show others they aren't sleeping and something to wait for, does anybody actually disagrees with that?
I'm aware of the semantics, that users that have Live 10 can beta test and all that about order, pre order, when they get money and all that, but IMO reason to announce it is to: get more orders, more beta testers and show people something to hope for.
Again does anyone actually disagrees with that, semantics aside or you are just picking some old bones with me?

There are bitter comments when anyone suggests peace love and understanding, universal basic incomes, stopping pollution, reducing carbon emissions, wearing masks to protect others from Covid-19 etc et. Sadly there are way more arseholes than there are people

To me it was just light arguing.
About pre order, I don’t agree in seeing it as taking money. We are voluntary buying at a discount offer similar to when you buy a year subscription at the discount price for BWS (I know, you can use it at any time but they are using it at the time of your purchase rather then waiting for you to upgrade to really use the money).
Ableton will have to wait until the release to access the purchases.... and again, giving us the advantage of a better price to be then charged at the time when others will pay regular price.
More fair than that....
Again, no old bones here. On the contrary, you can argue with me to death but I will always reconnect with you as usual at any (good or bad) times.

I’d say there are as many assholes as there are people. It’s just a matter of how often.fairlyclose wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 1:20 am There are bitter comments when anyone suggests peace love and understanding, universal basic incomes, stopping pollution, reducing carbon emissions, wearing masks to protect others from Covid-19 etc et. To sum up (and if I'm wrong, I won't be offended by a correction
)
1) Abelton does not charge your pre-order until the date of the release.
(It's basically a discount for customers who are sure they will purchase the release when available).
2) There's no charge to apply for the Beta program - just sign up and await approval (I think you do need to own Live 10). If I remember correctly, the free Beta upgrade license expires the day of release (end of Beta)
3) Additionally - you can remain in the Beta program after the release (for dot releases), but I believe you have to have purchased the upgrade.

Correct on all points.
As soon as I used the beta for a day I went for it. So yes, it's totally a fair offer that I could take after a deep evaluation (no for me this time) of the program. Very much appreciated.

Not to restart this since you all kissed and made up. I just fail to see anything controversial about what you said? Literally arguing that since you can email them to stop your order before they draw money when it's released it's not really like they're collecting money? The internet is a weird place.Passing Bye wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:13 am Point is to collect update money from excited upcoming beta testers and give unimpressed ones something to feel excited about.

Simply by not paying. It's nothing more than a 90+ day trial.tooneba wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 7:02 am How do you cancel after using Live 10 for months *facepalm
