Sampled from the 1978 transistor-based Amtron UK263 drum machine, Mellow Yellow includes all the original preset rhythms (now beat-sliced and ready to sync to your DAW tempo) plus a nice selection of kit pieces – two variants of the kick, two snares, hats, and both clean and white-noise-fuzzy versions of the woodblock sound.
The preset rhythms are surprisingly cool – "Rock Pop" is definitely our favourite – and can be layered and combined for some more off-the-wall beats. Plus of course there's our usual selection of soundshaping tools... so if you want the sound of 1978 transistors crushed down to 8 bits and then overdriven, you can have that
