Well, no.. in a flexible modular environment one would assume you could choose which envelope controls the VCA/amp. In this case each oscillator has it's own volume knob (aka amp) so one would rightly assume the user has full flexibility over which envelope controls these.
Env 1 is indeed hard coded to all the oscs which is a bit unfortunate but definitely makes it easier for new users. Would be nice if it could be separated and used as a completely unique individual envelope.

Maybe an envelope knob for Env1 only on the OSC?

Or an Env selector in the Osc Block. All 3 Oscs could default to Env 1 but could be changed to Env 2 or 3 (or 4,5,6) if desired without Env 1 overriding any values.
Here's a test. INIT a patch. Leave Env 1 at its default settings. Now in the Matrix add Env 2 to Osc 2 Level and max out the mod amount. Then increase the Release value on Env 2. It has no effect because Env 1 is overriding Env 2.
Then increase the Release on Env1 and now you get the release from Env 2. Env 1 is acting as a Master.

I have to double up here, I find the focus on the home-brewed macro setup to be far and away the best encouragement of control out there -- its right in your face on the left, custom names immediately give a sense of what the patch maker intended, and inspires any would-be patch maker to go that one step further with their envisioned sound.Psuper wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:28 pm Having spent a bit of time with Vital today, this will take over for my #1 synth spot for when I need maximum control of live playing sound, which is almost always as I rarely manually input automation. Vital is by far most in-line with how I visualize sound manipulation, and I'm making absolute bangin evolutions right out the gate. Just seeing how the first 4 macros are all put to good use in presets was my first indication, and it only got better from there.
Great job Matt, you got yourself a clear winner here, can't wait to upgrade.
Its something many synths include one way or another, and people may not think about it much. However with Vital the control macros demand attention, the community of patch makers seem to be aware that this is important in their definition of the sound, and incentivize players to pluck away at some of the controls a bit more instead of move on after a key or two. I actually enjoyed going through all the presets -- something I've not done in 20 years - I was as interested in what the patch macros were named as I was in the sound -- and was rarely disappointed with all control guns blazing.
Oh, and the random function in the matrix... great stuff. Id love to see a UA Lion Style global random too.
Have you tried Vital?

Yeah, seems KVR is a small drop in the ocean compared to Discord.Teksonik wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:47 pm
EDIT: It looks like there is far more noise at discord than there is here. I don't know if that's a better place to get answers to operational questions or not.![]()

What I meant was to open it as standalone first after installation and then use in your DAW. It's not necessary to do it always AFAIK. It's just in case of any updates, new preset downloads, stuff like that.ThomasHelzle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:00 pmThe download worked for me in the vst plugin actually, the first time I opened it and logged in. I just bought via the InTheMix link but didnt get any extra presets![]()
Are there other features dependent on using the standalone do you know?

Runs fine, expect InTheMix runs it in FL and has done for a while testing it. I did encounter a crash when trying to change the User/Documents folder on initial install startup but just accepted that file path the next attempt.Tannaliini wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 4:00 pm How is it working with FL Studio (on Windows)?
There were some comment earlier that Vital is CPU killer... Is it really heavy for CPU?
My only other issue so far was GFX drivers related. It never loaded stating I needed a newer OpenGL version, when searching I found FL's zGameVisualiser also needs OpenGL and it never loaded despite me knowing I'd previously worked with that on my Surface 4. Just updated those and it was fine, I'd been using Intels own so I get custom options, but had deleted a bunch of things recently.
CPU (i5 in this) reminds me of Massive X like some suggest, heavy on pads. I never opted for it in the end, same with Pigments or PhasePlant which the presets here seem on par with which is excellent for a free synth. So this saved me some money on them to go towards a new CPU. Probably the best free synth there is, and I really liked Thorn being free with CM version, well done to devs like this.
Still to delve into the oscillators but seeing what they can do on Matt's YouTube channel seemed well ahead of many other pro synths and the reason I opted for Vital. Lifetime free updates sounds good for us FL users too, let's hope plenty of people support this, and it's preset bundles for future development.

AFAICS you don't need to do that, really, it works just as well from the VST plugin inside the daw, updates and allLoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 8:51 amWhat I meant was to open it as standalone first after installation and then use in your DAW. On Windows 8.1 x64 that is.

What I say is this: there are many videos tutorials show how to make Serum more analog. I think this can be with Vital also if it can be do with Serum? There was also commentearlier here in this KVR forum that Vital can sound more warm compare Serum. So yes maybe this reddit comment is unfair to Vital?

The "Deeper" pad by Yuli Yolo is simply amazing, just magical, to point out one of many very nice presets.
Vital and me are going to be very good friends I believe, it has soooo much potential!
