SLiC wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 10:53 am Judging from some of the posts I am not even sure its 100% finished yet....don't let an early pre-order fool you in to thinking release will be soon!
Software is never "100% finished."
Instead, developers set various artificial deadlines which come together to formulate when it's time to release: implementing a finite set of new features, achieving a certain level of stability (no software will ever be 100% bug-free), and of course meeting projected revenue schedules.

Generally there is a hard cutoff for new features to be implemented into a new version. Every time the development team squeezes a new unplanned feature into the build, the testing phase starts over, because new features == new bugs, and new bugs == hours of testing and fixing and retesting.

So keep that in mind every time you demand one more thing to be included.

You're being overly pedantic, you know what SLiC meant. This release seems to be changing as they go based on reactions, rather than having the software finalised... OK, OK, just so you don't get your knickers in a twist, this 'never 100% finished current version of the software release but what we intended to release at this time.'

Post

Yes, that's exactly what I meant (The business I own develops and sells software amongst other things, I have some clue as to the process)

Peter seems to be asking the development team if certain features will be available on release, it was obviously announced before some things were finalised, that's not uncommon.

It's possible things are changing (such as being bale to hide gear and pre-sets you don't own) based on feedback- I am more than happy to wait longer if that is the case!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Then you missed my point entirely. What I am saying is that if AmpliTube 5 was release-ready, it would be released. It's not released because it has not yet met the threshold for feature implementation and stability, but it will be released by the end of the year no matter what, because that is the hard deadline they set on the business side of things.

It is very unlikely they are still adding to the feature list for v5.0. But they are still implementing planned features. I did not get anything different from what Peter has said, and neither should have anyone else.

I am quite sure the release that will happen was culled from their efforts and countless posts already of what people would like to see.

farfadetfarfelu wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 5:29 pm So apparently to use Amplitube 5 as a full stereo on synths or whatever, the user still has to replicate by hand the second channel ?

https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/vi ... 52#p108547

Like inserting a second amp, copy/paste, insert the stomps, copy/paste each one, fiddle with the settings, now copy/paste on the other channel etc... ridiculous, that's part of what turned me away from amplitube.
Someone not from IK saying it isn't in software that hasn't been released doesn't mean it won't be there. I will bump the request to the devs as this was my reply in that thread:
But there is also a request to lock/link the gear in each side of the chain. I see that as a core part of the request, and have made the devs aware that this is the part that is not currently implemented in AmpliTube 4.
Well thank you if you can weigh in on that request... time will tell.

Post

Peter saying he "will bump the request to the devs" should be taken to mean he is requesting INFO from the devs as to whether or not the feature in question will be in the final release candidate for AT 5.0. Don't confuse that with Peter requesting the devs add new unplanned features. That isn't going to be his role.

Peter, can you get verification that V5 will not automatically over-write _anything_ related to a V4 install, registry included, unless an installer prompt has been selected, and then the user queried 'Last chance to save/move/reinstall V4, are you sure?'.

And any details like 'is a V4 re-install to a different area needed to protect it from being effected by a V5 installation? Or to keep custom presets from wandering off into the ether etc?

Also, I would value the option to install/reinstall/register products purchased in the timeframe of the previous install manager, using that same 'old' install manager. I realize the new one is all

AmpliTube 5 is a completely separate installation that will not affect your V4 installation. You will be able to import your previous presets, they will not be affected in your V4 installation though. Your projects will sound the same when you open them if AT4 is instantiated even after you install AmpliTube 5.

We have also posted a new "making of" video where the people who created AmpliTube 5 give a deeper dive into how it was done:

So just for understanding purposes...

If I used AT4CS in my projects, and installed AT5CS... every time I reload my projects, AT4 is loaded, not AT5 and taking over my settings.

On one hand, that is good for project backward compatibility. On the other, it's a PITA to have several versions installed (hated that with Kontakt, glad they got rid of the version number in the DLL name - then again, Kontakt is fairly "transparent" sound wise)

It's still not released. I'm really curious how the amps will sound though. Shame there is no "scaled upgrade" based upon what you already have.

Thanks for confirming this. Still curious about keeping the old reg/installer alive as an option.

At this point, I am not particularly interested in Artist packs.

Unless you have an artist who uses a bunch of completely custom or obscure gear, chances are their amps and effects will be more or less covered in Amplitube.

There are no shortage of effects manufacturers I'd like to see represented - EHX, MXR/Way Huge, Ibanez/Maxon, Wampler, EQD... and a few amp makers as well like Friedman, Magnatone, or Supro.

Its the perfect solution. You don't have to install AT4 if you don't need it and nothing gets broken if you used it on older projects.
