dont buy daws because of their plugins, but for their features. Reaper has great plugins available already, just saying- Although i mostly use energyXT3 for everything, Reaper is my second daw of choice. Remember that 3rd party plugins usually is the best choice, although reaper has a great collection of great plugins. While theyre transparant, they get the job done very well. Let me ask you, do you buy DAWs because of their synths and plugins? Not a good idea., just saying. But of course, opinions matter right?

They are functional, but yes not like other DAWs. Anyway, you can fill the gap with the free plugins (I did that more than 10 years ago!! So, it is much easier to do now!):JJWL wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2020 6:49 pm I recently bought Reaper as my first DAW because the price seemed so good. But now I realize that some other DAWs come with really good plugins. Reaper comes with plugins but I don't hear people praise them like I hear for some other DAWs.

or/and buy an issue of computer music (about $5) that comes with great synths/plugins:

I really don't think you need more than that for free/cheap!
Anyway, if you want to spend more, then I suggest TB (ToneBoosters) TrackEssentials for 29 euro:

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Could not even render tracks from markers.
Reaper "let's make the simple things harder"
P.S. Tried Cakewalk and that is worse lmao.
Do any DAWs add in features that actually work?
Like a very simple task like adding markers to the start of each song in a large file and rendering them as seperate tracks?
It's 2020 and daws still make this very simple task ridiculous.
Cakewalk ,you can't even do it,it is 2020 guys,lmaoooo.
God wept.

I'm sure that Cubase can do all of that! I suppose Live, Studio One, Bitwig and Samplitude can do those tasks as well (should be all DAWs nowadays really!).
Best way is to demo and see which one fits your needs. You don't have to buy the Pro version for a start, the intro versions might be enough for you. For example, you can find S1 Artist 5 for a cheap price in the Sell & Buy forum.

in Reaper convert markers to regions then render the regions as separate tracks. It would be very easy to make a macro for this, otherwise it might take a couple of minutes to set up each time. This sort of operation is where Reaper excels - other aspects shit me off completely so I hardly use it now.Smasha wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:12 am Could not even render tracks from markers.

I couldn't get the named marked tracks to render with their named titles in Reaper.
I used an action to convert regions from markers but when using the render dialog, all the regions can not be named as seperate tracks.
I have each track marker named with a Hash (#1 to #7, 7 tracks in the file) then it's title after that but Reaper can not see that marker info when rendering.
I tried converting regions from markers in Cakewalk and I don't think that has the function at all, here we are in 2020 lol.
DAWS by nature love to make the most practical, simple things very hard to implement then cram them with a billion functions and features we don't use.
I would have probably rendered em by now just doing it the old fashioned way by looping each track and rendering from the loop points.
Reaper, you are too hipster for your own good.

How do I rename regions from marker info?
Can't find anything in the action list to do that.
My regions still render with the original name of the file.
Even when I right click a region and the item properties box comes up,there is no function in there to rename the region to what marker info I have assigned to it.

Used tREAPER for approx. 3 years,
-software is in stagnation state for a long time (except maybe Area Selection feature in one of the latest releases, but i personally do not need it)
-development path doesn't align with my needs at all
-spoiled and ungrateful community
-politics
-scripting & theming usually is half-assed and basically is a waste of time.
With all respect to developer of REAPER as a human being, he is a very kind guy, but i completely disagree with what he's doing with his product.
