When you guys say you love the interface, do you mean the appearance or the total user experience? I mean the appearance is fine, but Cubase's workflow is still clumsy IMO. The mixer needing 3 different views when docked is silly, and when using the non-docked mixer, there implementation of all the top modules is clumsy. The menus are a confusing mess of "where did Steiny hide that thing I'm looking for in this particular Cubase update." Seriously, I've only been using Cubase since version 9 and I think they've moved some menu items 3 times. Then you still have the old-style windows that you just randomly come across. The drag and drop functionality isn't as robust as it could be and lack of some workflow shortcuts keep it from surpassing S1 or Reaper in speed. Example: why do I have to select a slot, open a menu, and click "No Effect" to remove an effect (vs. say Alt+click in Reaper). Their implementation of mixer colors was messy (not pretty), and they kind of botched the track names when implementing them (black boxes and left justified text).
I mean overall, Cubase is dark nice colors and icons, everything's legible, and it uses good contrast on the main GUI. Outside of that, I think the interface on the whole still could stand to be modernized. At least from a workflow perspective, but also certain aspects of the GUI.

Agree with all. BTW you can achieve this by dragging the plugin out of the insert slot.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 5:21 am Example: why do I have to select a slot, open a menu, and click "No Effect" to remove an effect (vs. say Alt+click in Reaper).

Often people complain that this and that feature require a lot of clicking but in reality they didn't spend enough time with manual to learn shortcuts or they don't know about macros which, when personalized can do several operations with just one keyboard shortcut.
Personalized Cubendo is a serious weapon.
Live doesn't even allow to change shortcuts so there's that.

I've tried some DAWs with the same soundcard settings and seems somehow Cubase has the lowest realtime recording delay, the "Constrain Delay Compensation" also works nicely in it and yepp also " love the interface", the new global track(with the chord one) and the non-scale/chord/non-chord note colorization is also a useable one in C11

For me, it's the workflow, the best for my use. I work with a lot of daw during my career, from cubase vst to logic on pc, to logic snd Dp on mac.i own several daw licences on my actual computer, Bitwig, Live...but I feel at home with Cubase Pro.

You can change it in the prefs. I didn't like it either so made mine a soft gray.codec_spurt wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 12:00 am
I don't like the all white outlines and a few of the other elements, such as the transport bar. They are going backward in that regard. Actually, I quite dislike it.

OMG !!! What the Hell is wrong with these people ? Don't they want the money ?HTT wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:43 pm I was going to update my Cubase Artist 10.5 to 11. Well, Steinberg insists on having two different email/password accounts for their site, one for general and one for purchases. I use a password manger. Everything is messed up. I don't have these issues elsewhere. Steinberg, fix your site! I can't even make a purchase because of your poor website design/organization.
I am trying all of Steinberg's support channels. What a consumer nightmare! It is like getting warranty support for a item, but I am trying to give them money to upgrade a DAW. Why the hell is this so difficult? Doesn't Steinberg want my money? I am going to start looking elsewhere if this is not resolved within 48 hours. Absolutely ridiculous and no excuse...
Arrgghhh !... after 3 unsuccessful attempts to purchase the upgrade from Elements 10.5 to 11, and getting many "Another user account exists with that email" messages (YES Steinberg... I know... I AM LOGGED IN ON THAT ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW ! ITS STILL ME... TRYING TO GIVE YOU MONEY!... GRRRRR!).
I finally succeed in purchasing the upgrade after spending over an hour logging in and out, and resetting passwords on multiple accounts, until it dawned on me that... hey I think that I had to do this same thing last year...
It's all coming back to me now
My memory must have blocked out the bad memory, but I'm sure I probably had to do the same thing on the 8 to 9, the 9 to 10 and 10 to 10.5 upgrades as well.
Seriously Steinberg, is it really that difficult ?
I've never had issues like this with any other company before.
Next time... I don't think I'm going to waste the time.
(Sorry- Rant over)- Carry on.

It's all coming back to me now... I think I wasted over an hour last year too...changing passwords and syncing accounts, between "my.steinberg" and "store.steinberg" and "support.steinberg" accounts to finally be able to purchase the 10.0 to 10.5 upgrade.

Does dragging an effect off the mixer (which removes an effect) not work for you?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 5:21 am Example: why do I have to select a slot, open a menu, and click "No Effect" to remove an effect (vs. say Alt+click in Reaper).

Sure, but Alt+Click or some other modifier would be faster and require less motion.xphen0m wrote: Sat Nov 21, 2020 3:28 pmDoes dragging an effect off the mixer (which removes an effect) not work for you?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 5:21 am Example: why do I have to select a slot, open a menu, and click "No Effect" to remove an effect (vs. say Alt+click in Reaper).

As others here have said, the strength for many of us with Cubase is its workflow.
You are trying to make Cubase another DAW, which it isn't.

it is what it is.

There are a couple of things I know from which are beyond clunky. Fortunately I never use these. Media Bay and a lot of samples to organize, I don't use other people's audio [other than Foley, sound FX] and I deliberate on where I put things to begin with. I have never once perceived any need for that bit. The VST track, or quick controls, any of that, don't use it. I had one thing I wanted to set up that way and it didn't work, otherwise I might be blissfully ignorant of that, too.
It was outdated when I started with Cubase 15 yrs ago IMO.
For what I do it's all just very simple. For people who think it's ergonomically so convoluted, I recommend to start with Key Commands window and study that and simply create commands that one can remember one way or another.
I know where things are and find that pressing a single hotkey (and probably "enter" to get out of the window) is not that much work
I'm absolutely in the <use maybe 10% of it> group.

Its their business but Steinberg should realize that there are laptop users too.
The Inspector is a pain to use on a laptop. For example open the Inserts drawer and Fader and can not see both at the same time because for whatever reason there are 10s of empty insert slots taking up the whole space. Still no Trackpad gestures like pinch zoom in out etc
