as far as i can hear, valhalla delay now covers almost the entire range covered by valhalla shimmer, except the double pitch transpositions ?

So there's no stereo width control in the new LoFi mode?

Post

Thank you Simon (and of course Sean).
he keeps adding and adding to it. No complaints whatsoever :).
I came to the VDelay party late and whilst it has not replaced my go to Default Delay, what I find it great for is ambient guitar parts.... Really really great on those. I can sit and play for hours thru it.

He probably needed the space in the GUI for the ducker.

To me it looks like ducking was never supposed to be in VDelay, but was later added by overwhelming popular demand, and in order to keep the same GUI layout, ended up taking the stereo-width knob's place.

I still much prefer ducking "the old way" and never cared about the new duck modes, but I find it a little unfortunate that some newer modes (Clarity and now LoFi) only come without stereo-width control, deviating from the original VDelay core design.

I think at some point, wanting control over everything conflicts with the goal of keeping it simple. If you really need to adjust attack/release times on ducking, it's time to put it on a send and pull out a sidechain compressor.

Great video. I love how the swells interact with the ducking.
