I'm looking at the I Heart NY Baby Audio plugin.
Sad I missed the free giveaway earlier in the year, but thats life.
Anyway, I do employ NY Compression which involves routing to another track and compressing the signal there. But, NY Compression does have a low shelf boost and a high shelf boost in the technique.
Does "I Heart NY" seem to have this low shelf and high shelf boost incorporated ?

Pretty sure it doesn't, which, I agree, is kinda weird.
I got this free in the give-away, but honestly, I've never used it. No automatic gain compensation means I'm continually having to adjust the output to offset the increase in compression and it can get very loud if you don't. I'm probably doing something wrong but there's only four controls so it should be pretty easy to set up!

If you have neutron elements you can do the same trick easily in just one plugin.

Yes dad. However, my other comments, based on my experience, still stand, in that it gets loud very quickly as soon as you start moving the "parallel" slider

It was a great freebie.
The GUI the epitome of wasted space. I'm not grumbling, I got it for free. I just think a smaller interface and more intuitive labels would benefit plug-in usage.

I was unaware shelves were part of "NY" compression - I always just thought it was a fancy way to say "parallel". Learn something every day

Yes, it would be nice if it included AGC, but after emailing them it turns out that was one of their selling points for Parallel Aggressor...

Typical use of NY compression is on a buss, blended in with the original signal. Shelves and agc aren't necessary there.
The obsession people have with having a single plugin do everything, and using inserts all the time is kinda weird to me personally. I'd much rather have an infinitely adjustable separate shelving eq of my choice in a separate plugin than try to fit a eq into the interface of the compressor I'm using.
