Of all the things I thought I'd be considering buying for my music productions, I honestly thought that it would have been an upgrade to Studio One 5 from version 4.6...but there was really nothing compelling enough to make me want it, other than one notable thing being the drag and drop connection of hardware synths which I have two of in front of me. If they had included anything new like a synth comparable to Dune 3 then, it might have been a different story. Mia Tie is a bit long in the tooth now :-D.. Dune 3, has long been on my radar, the upgrades they did from R2 were pretty epic and it's nice that you can customise the skins. As for the sound, it blows Vital out the water, like a Tsunami lol. It's up there with the 3 or 4 best sounding VST synths you can buy today. It's going to be a fun week fusing this one with Rapid & Hive, and exploring it's depths that I really didn't spend much time with during the demo periods. It's will be a nice rest from web scripting which has been a metal slog. Incidently, I do have a video gallery section on Dune 3, over on my site, I'll have to check out now too, which I provided really for everyone else lol... the site is even more epic now but I'll cover that in coming days on what's changed.. :-)

Anyone knows if the update gonna bring poly at or mpe to dune 3 ?

Post

Yes, I know. I'm not at liberty to discuss it, however.

nor am I, but I have no idea anyway :hihi:

Too bad ! I really liked dune's sound and the actual price is pretty attracting, but poly at is really important for me since I play mainly with my launchpad...

Let's hope that the update brings increased polyphony and the ability to independently assign the oscillators to the filters...

That would be perfect ! :)

That can be pretty easily achieved with the layers though. Maybe not as simple as a knob, but also with the bonus of more control.

But it should be available on a single layer...

I have a very low IQ and I find even the simplest of tasks a real challenge,so I prefer working with single layers...

Life is not so easy when you are thick as me...

So increased polyphony and the ability to independently assign the oscillators to the filters would be greatly appreciated

I built a nice little flute patch using FM synthesis and the noise oscillator. I am absolutely loving Dune 3. Might just be my new favorite synth!

If you don't know how to install presets, just throw this .fxp file into one of your soundbank folders within the Synapse Audio Dune 3 folder in "My Documents". I actually recommend creating a "user" folder in your soundbank folder for all your custom presets.

I'm evaluating, almost ready to pull the trigger, the sound is fantastic, but there is one bug bothering me.

On Reaper 6.15. If I open a new instance and touch some buttons and then press "Ctrl + Z", the plugin gets unloaded, as if the last action that Reaper saw was the plugin been loaded and Reaper was undoing that.

If I load any other synth and do the same (I tried with Surge, Bazille or Largo) everything works as expected.

I mostly use no presets, so a working undo/redo is a must for me. Am I the only one having this problem?

I have few hours left to decide if I buy it.

EDIT: I was just now into programming a patch, until I pressed Ctrl + Z without thinking and lost 15 minutes of work.
EDIT2: I got an a-ha moment, If the synth were that broken, I guess that someone would have raised the issue, so this is almost surely related with the automation/parameter recall being disabled in the Demo. Maybe it could be good to add a remark on the Demo limitations text.

FYI, Control + Z works fine in Studio One 5 but I'm using the full version, not the demo.

if you're using the demo, you cant save patches anyway

rlared, thank you.

Anx, of course, but when I evaluate a synth I tweak it and try to do a patch. I found myself accidentally pressing Ctrl+z (muscle memory) and blowing out all my modifications up to that point, which was annoying. Not nice to be on the raw sawtooth again.

Anyways, I discovered that this thing sounds brutal, but for some reason it was not as funny to program as others. I don't know if it's because I haven't warmed up yet to it.

It seems it could benefit from something similar to Bazille's gear porn skin. At least the mod matrix hidden on a tab on the central screen, along with the arp and the patch menu is too mouse click intensive. Just moving away the patch selection menu away from there would allow having the mod matrix always selected, as Arp is not a feature used as often.

EDIT: I found out that modulations can be added with right click on the parameter knob. This improves the workflow a bit.

EDIT2: Missing the FX chain to be able to run in parallel, so I can apply reverb and chorus to a delay as if it were a send.

EDIT3: Bought. The right click modulation changed the experience totally for me.

EDIT4: Undo works as it should on the full version.
