Regarding the Windows Defender issue:
To hopefully ease everyone’s mind, I’m not a hacker and have a long history of making music software (working at Cakewalk + Harmonix, Helm before Vital, etc). I would be ruining my reputation and business model by packaging a virus in Vital.
For those of you concerned about a hacker getting into my servers. I just verified the builds on S3 where the builds are stored and everything matches what I uploaded and signed.
As for why Vital is getting marked as a virus, there could be a few reasons why.
There are two types of code signing signatures to, there’s a ‘regular’ version and an ‘extended validation’. I opted for the regular version because I thought at minimum it would take care of this issue. After talking with more audio plugin developers I’ve come to the conclusion that validating using this ‘regular’ code signing certificate is pretty much useless.
There have been a massive number of downloads in a single day. Massive download numbers + my brand new code signing certificate makes Vital look like a Trojan to auto malware detectors. I probably tripped some auto protection mechanism in Windows and/or Chrome after a certain number.
I’m actively trying to fix this but it may take some time to get through to these companies and switch over to an ‘extended validation’ code signing certificate. Thanks for you’re understanding and patience!

People love arguing on the internet, that’s for sure. Usually I post about what I feel is lacking in an instrument, whether or not I’ve decided to buy it or not, then maybe follow the thread for a bit and reply to any replies... and then let it go. Why waste your time on something that’s clearly not for you?fisherKing wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:54 pm why do people who don't like something spend so much time on a thread that's about that very thing? it's like they're trying to convince everyone else (who'd rather discuss the merits, bugs, creative possibilities, etc of that thing) that they're... wasting their time, or they're wrong...![]()
it's so kvr (which, to be fair, is also full of intelligent discussion, creative thinking, people sharing ideas and tips, etc).

Should also be good for learning - the first sound is a pretty fat bass
The YY Sounds are pretty much my favourites in the Vital Plus collection already...![]()
Cheers,

And bought, along with his Noise Samples and added the free Wave Tables too.
And Loving the Import functionality in Vital.. Works on Noise, WaveTables and Presets.

I wrote this the day before the free version dropped:
Some people focus on the weaknesses of a synth while others focus on its strengths. The latter are far more likely to get the most out of that synth.
If someone can't find a use for Vital especially the free version then I don't think that's the synth's fault.
I bought in to the early deal and for $20 feel like I've committed grand larceny.
The fact that any synth is polarizing is a good thing. That means it has character which some will love and some will hate. In order to stand out in an overcrowded market a synth needs its own character.Teksonik wrote: Mon Nov 23, 2020 5:29 pm Should be interesting see what the "It's Awesome" to the "It Sucks" ratio will be.......

I think it means that support is based on a queue system and Pro users are given higher priority. Shouldn't be an issue since there will be an influx of content on it which might help.AnX wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 6:58 pm one thing I'm not keen, on... you only get dev support with the pro version
free + no support, fine
but paid, even $25, and no support?
not good
EDIT: Not denying that it's a bit strange btw, but that's VST companies now to be honest.

It definitely doesnt suck, its really pretty bad ass. A few confusing things, if you are used to Serum. Like editing a wavetable, and other little things, but nothing overbearing.
I think a few presets really slam your CPU, but I think with a few updates, they can iron it out

i get that some people don't like it (i've been using it like a fiend on some new projects). what i don't get is why people hang around a thread and continue to rant about what they don't like. but, sadly, this is how many people are.
i come to kvr for the, uh, lively discussions, and, when a dash of intelligence pops up in a thread, i enjoy it all the more.
meanwhile, vital is now become on of my top synth plugins, and i've barely scratched the surface...

It‘s a shame that a synth, which is generally free and which just allows to honorize the developer additionally with some small amount of money, receives so harsh critics. Instead of being thankful, that one spends so much time, love and passion on his baby and giving the crowd such a great synth, some have nothing better to do in their live as to state, how unperfect it is compared to whatever.
Some get really to the edge of impertinent and I am shure, if one would challenge, what they created successfully in life, there would be not that much. However there should, when the whole life consists of blaming others, how shitty and useless their effort was...

Vital doesn't remember some of its settings after reopening the GUI :
1) The grid settings in the Modulation section
2) The last selected Modulation envelopes before closing the GUI - it snaps back to ENV1 and LFO1.

Do you mean it shouldn't be like that because the filters of analog synths go into self-oscillation without any input? I think that's because of the general noise floor that can always be found in analog gear.ecasasmusic2 wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 11:26 am I have made a patch with filter self-oscillation and it sounds good. The only odd thing is that the oscillator needs to be turned on (only minimum volume needed) to be able to trigger the sound. It shouldn't be like that though.
To make something like this work in a soft synth the synth would have to generate some noise and inject it into its signal chain even if nothing is played. That's not very desirable because I guess many people are happy that digital synth are not as noisy as analog ones are. So just activate a noise oscillator and set it to a very low volume to have the same effect and the best of both worlds.

I can see constructive criticism being helpful but just mindless bitching is pointless.

Posting about how you don't understand posts about how someone posts in this thread about a synth they doesn't like just adds just as much clutter. At least the person posting about their negative opinion is technically on topic, the people posting about the post are not. I've also seen a few posts about how the developer's feelings might get hurt if he was reading this...what? It's totally fair game to say "the filters suck, I don't like this" and I'm sure the developer can stand the feedback. Might even lead to a better product in the end ("add better filters"). So just because I don't want this post to be more noise let's talk about the product some...
Totally agree that they need some kind of way to get back to the root folder. When you click a tag, clicking it again de-activates it. I think they should just follow that same paradigm in the folders. Sounds like it would be easy enough to implement and be consistent. It's kind of crazy that the foldering persists even after you close the browser. That just seems like a pretty big design oversight. I imagine that will get fixed soon.
I'd also suggest they up the parameter smoothing a bit or add some options for it (I think Surge does this). The filter can get a little steppy with high-resonance. It's not the worst I've heard, but not the best either. I think it should be optional though as more stepping may mean slowing things down a bit.
Love that the meter turns bright red when you clip.
I have no doubt this synth will continue to improve. It's really impressive for a 1.0 release despite some clumsiness here and there.
