Just realised Pianoteq 7 seems to be missing the NKS version

Post

Thumbs up if you love the Bluthner! :tu:

(U4 is really nice too)

I see the NKS patches in Komplete Kontrol including the new Steinway NY but the image in the keyboard is from Pianoteq 6. So I’m not sure if it works because I had the v6 demo installed before I bought v7.

I can only see Pianoteq 6 files and that is all that loads.

Ah it has added it under 'Synthesisers' instead of 'Piano and keyboards' - might need to change that

Blüthner is too wooly for me.

My current favorites are the YC5 and Steinway Model B. Previously I was digging the Bechstein DG and K2 the most.

The Ant. Petof can't be overlooked!

The YC5 is a little thin sounding compared to the new models (at least in 6) but I can see it work in a mix.

Those are my current preferences as of Pianoteq 7. The YC5 and Model B sound very lively now. I’ve always liked the YC5 in particular, but now it really shines in v7.

The Yamaha C5 (and the larger C7) are popular rock/pop pianos because they are light and bright.

Obviously choice is very personal, and some libraries have as many likes as dislikes, so you have to experiment to see what suits your ears and style.

Having said that, for Pianoteq 6 it seems to me the generally best liked libraries across users were: Steingraeber, Bechstein, and Steinway B.

My personal favorite in v6 is Steingraeber, and it's funny now with the new version 7, it sounds a bit more lively, but it also sounds more sub-grand now, a bit uncontrolled and easy to get testy if you hammer it. Lost some of the pristine elegance I was hearing before, in favor of more realism that makes it sound more flawed. So I'm not sure I prefer the v7 to the v6 because of what I liked about the v6.

I think it will be a while before we pick favorites again. We'll just have to enjoy the process of testing all the sounds.

I went for the Steinway D this time, because of their generosity of offering both versions in the same pack. It was one of my least favorite models in v6, but now for v7 I've heard some demos that caught my ear. Time to get hands on.

Pianoteq 7.3 is out now.
The Ant. Petrof instrument pack now includes a Petrof 284 Mistral model for v7.3 and up.

So it looks like if you already own Pianoteq 7 and the Ant. Petrof pack, you get a new piano for free. 8)

Hm... I wonder how realistic most of the libraries actually are - the Hohner Electra certainly sounds not at all like an Electra going by the examples - it seems more like a Rhodes to me or something - is this supposed to be a joke? Or do they give semi-random names to semi-random parameter variations?

Odd, I used the Hohner Electra in one of my tracks partly because I thought it sounded nothing like a Rhodes.
