Orion
Orion Pro
Orion Platinum
they dropped the first two, then changed the name to Orion Studio iirc
i just checked my account, I have about 6 diff versions in the downloads
V7. 5 is needed to load older projects, as V8 won't load them (until you resave in v7. 5)

this was my daw of choice back in the day. just found it so intuitive and easy to write music in. I went from fruity loops to orion and stuck with orion until around 10 years ago when I moved into more hardware setups and live recording. it was a great daw to use.

Hi Everyone,
I have dusted off an old copy of Orion and am trying to determine how to record midi data generated by a VST sequencer I am using (one of the HY Plugins). I have inserted this sequencer on one track, and have created three other tracks with instruments, setting "receive midi from" on each of these three tracks to the HY sequencer on track one (receiving data on three different midi channels). When I press play, however, I do not hear any of these three instrument tracks playing. Moreover, when I press record, I do not see any midi data entering the piano roll of these three tracks.
Am I neglecting a setting somewhere? Or, is Orion not able to record midi generated from a VST (in other words, it is only able to record midi from an external midi controller, such as a keyboard)?
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

2. are they all on the same midi channel as the sender?
i dont think Orion will record the midi, just receive and play it from a vst seq
receive midi from works fine here.

Hi - thanks for your response.
I am using version 8.6. I have the HY sequencer set up to send midi on three separate channels at the same time, with the three instrument tracks set up (individually) to receive midi on channel 1, channel 2 and channel 3.
If Orion doesn't record midi in this situation - even using just one channel as the send and receive - then that is probably my answer.

I will try that, then.
You can download a demo version of the sequencer here: https://hy-plugins.com/product/hy-rpewin-mac/. Even if I set the HY sequencer to MIDI CC in Generator settings, though, would I be able to record the midi data from that sequencer/generator into the piano roll of either that track or another track?
