Is it possible to use Max 4 Live with Intro, or is Standard required? I am thinking of buying Intro, since featurewise it would be enough for me, but Max at some point would be a great addition.

You need the full version, and then purchase the additional Max for Live option, or just upgrade to Suite. M4L doesn’t work with the Intro or Lite versions

Ok, thanks, that's good to know.

Oh, but it is SO much better than it was in 2011 when I first picked up on it. Small victories. I’m good with small victories.

I read that it´s buggy, but "mostly" not working seems a bit exaggerated?

And another question: Is M4L totally tied to Live or can you use it standalone in some form? I know there´s the option to buy a full MAX license also, so I guess there´s no way to use it independently/less buggily?

M4L is tied to Live, you need to open it from Live. You can locate the .exe (at least on Windows) and open it, but it will open in Demo Mode.

If you own M4L you can crossgrade to full Max for cheaper.

Max standalone is not more or less buggy, as it is literally the same software (only the license differs), you can even install Max standalone and point Live to use it (that's how it worked before Live 10, user had to download and install Max separately).
