Hi,

I wanted to get some Goodhertz plugins but I slept on the deal. I'm gonna wait on the next one. Specifically I'm going ot miss LoHi and Wow Control. I wanted to hear your updated thoughts on filter plugins. I thought LoHi sounded exceptional with a higher resonance settings and its super pleasent to use. I have FilterFreak but its a bit clunky (to me, for simple filters that I automate). Everybody still in love with TheDrop? Any other suggestions for a (simple) filter plugin?

While youre here: any alternative to wow control thats not RC-20?

Thanks!

The Drop is all I need/want, still love it. Not just great filters, but great modulations too and useful midi input to trigger those.

For wow and flutter, there are lots of tape emulations out there these days that do that. Sketch Cassette II, Waves Factory Cassette, lots of others.

I decided against getting the wavesfactory one. It sounds fantastic but its so heavy and hard to dial in. I enjoyed wow control for its simplicity to add more suble sounds.

I think I'm gonna give TheDrop a good look then and maybe look at sketch casette.

Definitely UVI Shade...

My favorite "simple" go-to filter is still FabFilter Simplon. I also have Volcano 2, but I find that it's overkill for my basic needs, and I usually go for FilterFreak over Volcano when I want something more complex. That said, I've had The Drop in my cart more times than I can count, but still haven't checked out for some dumb reason...

I tried The Drop, then I tried Arturia’s offerings. The Drop sounds clinical in comparison. Arturia’s sound very organic and use less CPU.

The Drop is far and away best but Soundspot is easy and much cheaper than Goodhertz. Or hell use Fabfilter ProQ

I bought the FX collection as BF sale, mostly because of the delays and and other stuff. Is it worth investigating the filters? To which one do you refer to?

UVI Shade makes me very happy. Filter +++
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

they are certainly worth investigating, the renamed them (great step..), a SEM filter (oberheim, with some extra modulation options), a Mini(moog) filter (again with modulation options), a Matrix-12 filter (most elaborate at filter modulatio). quite good filters, great filters. but arturia the discussion will always continue.
you have the FX collection, try them. Filter Sem is for instance now the name?

the drop is of course also a very interesting filter, but if you have ableton live 10 suite (or even standard? yes or intro?), some of them are build in. sound pretty good.
the drop is the most praised filter plugin. i don't have it. swamped in filters (also via voltage modular for instance, that can be used as an effect plugin, so you have a load of filters... if you have bought them, and i have..).

but those 3 arturia filters, are great (in my opinion). simply use them as a normal filter, or modulate them, in the way each can... changes sound completely..

For LoFi I use RC-20 by XLN Audio.

As far as filters go, i could recommend these :
- ToneBoosters SVF (cheap, great featureset)
- AudioDamage Filterstation2 (two filters, lfo, feedback, etc)
- U-He Zebrify (all the great Z2 filters and modular behaviour... but not sold separately).

For tape/wow, I suggest to give ChowTape a try. It's free, and it's great.

Is it worth investigating the filters? What did you buy them for? Surely your own ears are better than someone telling you what they think? And you usually get opinions before you buy? I'm confused by this

Post

I‘ve bought it mainly because of the delays and the compressors. I seldom need a filter plugin and if, I would go with UVI shade first, which I also have. I have prejudgement on Arturia filters, that they are not the best. But since djanthonyw mentioned, that they are very good, I wanted to know from him, which one ( it are 3 contained ) he thinks is so good. So maybe I can then have a look on it and correct my prejugdement. Confusion clarified?
