I have found out on the internet that I am not the only one in this situation. There are other people who cannot use Vital for this exact same opengl problem. So I wanted to propose that everyone who cannot use Vital be allowed to participate this month with Helm, which is made by the same developer. What do you think? :)
I just had a look at Helm, and to download Helm i have to click a "buy" button with a suggested donation of $25. I understand it says it is a free synthesizer, but this "buy" button makes me feel a bit guilty of donating $0.

I already have quite a few (i thought enough) synths which i have paid for.

I haven't tried Vital on my computer, but i expect i would have the OpenGL problem because i have an OpenGL problem with Breeze reverb on this computer (it won't display the GUI) and i think it is also an OpenGL problem i have with Dragonfly reverb (it won't display the GUI). 2Caudio have told me the Breeze GUI problem is an OpenGL problem.

I think i'm not going to participate this month, but i am disappointed. I'm a novice synthesist but i do have Serum. I was looking forward to trying out some of my Serum ideas on Vital the free Serum for this month's OSC! Oh well..

RuediRena did speech synthesis on OSC30: Farbrausch V2 back in the days.

Let's see if I find the time to do a track this month.

I instantly recognised that sound from the BBC tv series of HHGTG. That's awesome

This is it, the month we've all been waiting for.

Are you sure about that? I've been waiting for the month that they start regrowing body parts...

I have no problem with that! I'm for 'anyone who can't run Vital can use Helm instead'. This has been allowed in previous months, so it should be ok.
Thanks Ranoka. I know that things like this have been done in the past and that in this friendly community no one has ever objected to limiting participation in exceptional cases. I'll wait to see what Brian and Richard say about it.

Remember that Helm has already been used in here (OSC90), even the developer participated in the voting and Helm is currently Open Source (according to the product page on KVR). So I see no reason for you to feel guilty at all.

Maybe we all expected this Vital to OSC 142, no?
Last month was to busy for me to try the OSC, but I'll try this month.
Someone already used this synth? It's really like Serum?

I had it for like a week now and it's pretty insane what this guy was able to achive with this one
If you've ever used serum before then you should feel right at home
Tho I have to admit that I prefer the GUI of serum a lot more... Makes a big difference in everyday's use for me.. Still an awesome synth 👌

It seems that Helm has the same OpenGL problem. Helm just opens to a white box (like also does 2Caudio Breeze and also does Dragonfly reverb) and then crashes for me in Bitwig. I'll have to give this month a miss, unless it can be decided that i'm allowed to use Serum :p ;)

have you tried nanohost or kushview element, or IL mini host
sometimes this works

OpenGLRendering from the application maybe able to switch off?
