A plugin that needs high CPU more likely creates crackles than one with low CPU - no matter what buffer size you selected.
A low buffer size more likely results in crackles than a large one.

1024 samples is pretty large. It means a latency of 23ms at 44.1 kHz samplerate (1024 / 44.1= 23 ms).
You should set it to 512 or 256

You don't set it afaik Logic does (the playback buffer size SF was referring to). Similar I believe to Cubase's Asio-Guard, which probably got its inspiration from it.
Record Armed tracks get the buffer size you set, and tracks that are in play mode get 1024 I believe in Logic's case and 512 in Cubendo's case.

Dude, seriously, please learn to read. That's all I can say.

I assume that's also why the New Logic Benchmark score doesn't change if you change buffer - because there's no live track at all.

It was created with just that in mind - measuring multithread performance. And it's also why I made a project that would do pretty much the opposite - only measuring the live track's performance on a single core. Needless to say, the M1 is killing it there.

I wonder how many in here actually tested the M1 and don't rely on hearsay or on videos that confirm their expectation.

What's the problem with videos? By now there's plenty of stuff not coming from the usual fanboys.

i'm selling my 13" intel to get an M1, based on first hand experience from people on GS and Logic forums... i didnt watch any videos tbh

All I can say still about my new M1 MacBook Pro is that it works much better as my old MacBook Pro 15" and in my case it gives me 2-3 X the performance.
I made several tests and some plug-ins runs not so great under Rosetta (but still better as on my old machine) and sometimes I get even 3-4 X more I can run, all armed, played in real-time.
I will not compare them anymore since I´m really pleased with my new M1 and formatted my old MacBook to give it away.
These 16GB RAM are enough for me since with the right settings it let me run dozens instances of Hans Zimmer Strings where on my old 3-4 was already too much.
This thing is silent and I can just say again in general this thing feels like a game changer for me.
I might get that 16" M1 or M1X too if it will be even much more powerful. I will not miss this intel crap for a second.
Peace and out ;)

Not that it'd matter at all, but it's quite funny that my post above (first of mine on this page) is getting downvoted. Gotta love this place.

yeah, it's all the windows users being extremely worried about mac users again

Haters gonna hate. Don't feed the trolls.
Mine also got downvoted. Although i just mentioned facts about crackles on audio and explained a formula for calculating latency from buffer-size

^^^this please :)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Another video. I still have to test Keyscape and Omnisphere 2 myself.

This!
Also am I missing something or _actual_ plugin developers with actual HW development kits went critters instead of praising M1 performance or posting real-world comparisons.
Murderous duck!
