I don't make "actual music", (save for a few people who consider some of what I do as: "it's 'music' to me"), and would love to have that preset to play with. I looped it for minutes and minutes, and had accents/variations/accompaniments playing in my head. :hyper:
Sorry, I did not save that preset :(
If I ever come up with bunch of presets, I'll upload them somewhere :)

After my "awful noises", I decided to make something for "actual music" :hihi:
I made sure to stay in major the whole time. No offending sounds or harmonies:

Patch recall in projects created in Bitwig and Komplete Kontrol (maybe more) doesn't recall the patch name.

Matt: Just opened a project with Vital in Bitwig 3.3 again and once more the MPE setting in Vital is off. This is definitely broken.
Using the VST2 since VST3 doesn't correctly report the state of the macros back to my controller...

Cheers,

Tom

Do you know if the button is actually off? Or does it just *look* off.

Nonono, you misunderstood. It doesn't belong in normal music. You know, the music everyone likes and listens to. Rest assured that your abnormal music is still technically actual music. (Don't you feel better now?)

The important thing is that you make some sounds that are amazing and uniquely characteristic of Vital, but also normal, like the sounds people expect to be able to make with any synth. Now try again, and this time don't embarrass yourself!

- It is off when I reload the project (MPE pitch bend does not work). It "looks" off even when it's on when I close and re-open the plugin window.
So basically both ;-)
I personally would prefer MPE to be a global setting.

- After Project reload, the preset title goes to "Init Preset".

- When I save a Wavetable I created with TTWT as a Wavetable, the name does not change in the Oscillator (stays as "TTWT"), only if I load that same Wavetable back I see the given name. Confusing.

- Is it possible to make the DAW "see" the name of the macros? They always show up as "Macro1-4". Would be much nicer to have them show the name given in Vital, but I'm not sure if that's a VST limitation or something you can notify the DAW about on Name change?

- With the VST3, I don't see the values of the parameters change in Bitwig Studio 3.3 when I switch between presets in Vital. They stay static. When I move the parameter either in Bitwig or in Vital, it moves in the other, but not when changing presets. This works in the VST2 (That's why I'm using the VST2 ATM, otherwise my motor-fader controller won't react to switching presets).

Windows 8.1 x64, Bitwig 3.3, VST 2 if not otherwise noted

Cheers and thank you!

I think Vital is awesome, but have a few minor wishlist items (I'm sure there are many already):
  • Arrow keys to change presets while in the browser
  • When modulating the delay time with an LFO (and sync is on), the delay time modulates to the next sync position (much like Serum), imho this is a bummer because it makes it impossible to create lush modulating (vibrato like) delay tails like Surge, Hive, Replika XT and ValhallaDelay
  • When I use a keytracked LFO to produce FM (i.e. modulate the Phase of an oscillator), the range appears to be far less than using a sine wave in OSC 2 and using FM to OSC 2, am I doing something wrong?
If we could do FM using the LFOs, it means we don't need to use up an osc slot when needing typical FM (i.e. sine wave or similar).

But in saying all of that, I absolutely LOVE the synth!!!!

This sound really great. Are you sharing the preset? If not, could you give me some hints on how to create a similar sound? I would really appreciate it :)
I'm keeping the preset to myself for now. I'll share it later. Which reminds me, I haven't actually saved it as a Vital preset yet.

I used the Text to Wavetable function and created the vocal sound (not words) that way. I forget what I typed in, but like Ahhh and Oooh, or something like that. Took a few tries to get the google translator to give a result I wanted. Tweaked to taste and played it with my Linnstrument so I used pitch slides to move from note to note. Glide would work for a regular keyboard but wouldn't be quite as organic with constant speed.
Love it! :tu:
Haven't been able to get something sounding that natural yet, so look forward to your presets :-)

The LFO's can do keytracked FM

Same here, not using Komplete Kontrol. It always says “init patch” when it wakes up even though it’s playing the preset that I made from an init patch.

Here is another vocal example. 2 instances each with a short vocal phrase.

Advanced midi/mpe control is where it's at -- game changer once you get your workflow down with your surface of choice. You hear 'game changer' a lot these days, in this case its undeniably true. I made my own morph surface after months of experimenting with custom layouts specific to how I like to do things (Oh the lengths I went, both technical and creative). Played live most people, even musicians, would never believe I'm working just 1 patch. What I created is totally unique and frankly blows away everything 'control' out there currently available.

Sensel however is way behind; none of their official 'overlays' is worth a shit and their developers are stagnant, like a slowly evolving extinction you know is coming soon but never arrives. Which is unfortunate, since the morph is one work week of software development away from being an unrivaled-my-miles-control-king -- they just lack vision, resources, or are making enough for their medical stuff or whatever. Not bashing the morph -- it's incredible, but because I made it so, and if Sensel were on the ball could be even better.

So ya, grab your Roli or Lin and go to town. And if you feel confident in rolling your own, grab a morph.
Have you tried Vital?

Looks like this is a known bug from the Vital forum so hopefully this will be fixed soon.

I have both Roli and Sensel Morph. Morph is way the better of the two to play, really easy and responsive. Agreed about Sensel devlopment tho. Hope some open source devs can jump on it. Any chance of sharing your custom overlays?

Back to Vital: Awesome synth, gonna be my main synth for all MPE stuff! So easy to use, visual feedback is great, Love the WT editing and spectral morph tools, very stable.
On Windows 10. Using Bitwig latest version. I also have the issue with it not recalling the MPE enabled setting on reloading the project - it is not just greyed, it is actually off. Also not recalling preset names as mentioned elsewhere.
