Maybe $2.90, and I'd consider one or two. Maybe.
Out of curiosity, what do you prefer for mixing/mastering plugins that in your opinion have real value... While I much prefer pricing strategies like Valhalla and U-he, when I can pick up PA plugins for $30 or less I find they do a job that is well worth that money... but I'm no professional, so would love to hear constructive criticism and about better alternatives...
I prefer this pricing strategy too. You should have a look at TDR plugins. They have sales (one at the moment?) but they are still in the same categories as Valhalla or U-he. Very sustainable products with many quality updates for free. They are perfect for mastering and mixing on the highest high level while being very affordable. But they are no vintage color makers, rather clean and technical in a positive sense. But they are still the benchmark for this kind of task.

Anyway it's just my opinion that I find PA's marketing tactics repulsive. Others will disagree. Such is the nature of opinions. So I won't discuss it any further. If you like PA's tactics by all means do business with them. :tu:
I agree with you. Back when PA was experimenting with sale prices and coupon codes, I started to get turned off them. That was after I acqured most of their catalogue. But in the middle of that era, I stopped buying PA. I do like many of their bx_ series and their analogue models, most are good. Thorn of course is fantastic and like you I wonder why DS gave that away to PA like that. But, like Waves, I no longer prioritize PA for purchases. I'll take a look at their new products and demo a but but unless the price is way low, I don't bother. Also I am not a fan of D*rk, to say the least.

Either Triade or one of the popular compressors (Elysia, SPL Iron, Shadow Hills, or something else someone catches me on!)
Just out of interest, how did you get the vouchers to stack? I still have the survey coupon knocking about, but you can't use it on a single $29 plugin, since the minimum spend is $39. I tried adding another cheap plugin to the basket, but it just applies the $29 to the cheap plugin and puts the price of the one I actually want back up to $199 :?

Luftikus is better than EQ4 because it has a (decent) auto-gain option.

The nice thing about MetricAB is that you can save a bunch of 'playlists'. I have lists based on genre and also guitar-centric ones, each one containing about 10 or so songs that fit that category. That makes it really nice because the songs are already set up for me, I just click whatever list I want to use. And it can be changed and added to/deleted from at any time if you want to make room for new songs that come along.

No PA plugins is worth $29

I didn't! For some reason I thought the voucher coupon didn't have a minimum and thus could be stacked

Ah, no worries. Thanks for replying, I was worried I was missing something for a sec there.

It ends in a few hours.
BFD3-2999 is the code I think

I picked up, SPL Vitalizer mk2-t, Elysia Alpha and Metric AB.
Metric AB is amazing, unbelievable for $29, although I did file a [minor] bug report for it.
Reaper (win), i7-7700k, 16GB

Teksonik wrote: Sat Nov 28, 2020 4:30 pm Here's an example of where my attitude from them comes....PA once had a sale on their bx_rooms reverb that listed for $199 and the sale price was $9.

I thought wow a $199 reverb for $9 how could I go wrong ? So I bought it without even demoing since I thought it's got to be worth $9. I was wrong. It's one of the worst sounding reverbs I've ever owned or tried. I'd use the freeware OrilRiver reverb long before I'd use bx_rooms. So Yea I was one of those suckers who fell for silly high list prices and low sales prices.

My fault, I should have demoed the plugin but for $9 I rolled the dice.

I've tried several of their other effects plugins and came to the same conclusion that they were average sounding...at best.
Don't take this the wrong way, but you're using it wrong.

The raw sound of bx_rooms is a little noisy and clangerous. It wouldn't be my first choice for everything... e.g. It'll never be a smooth giant hall reverb.

But... It can be a great tool in a mix on certain elements. You can get it to sit behind a sound and thicken it up and enhance how it sits in a mix. There are many ways to use a reverb and this does have its uses.

Try it this way in mix, then comment on it properly...

Yeah putting silly high list prices on average sounding plugins then putting them on sale for what they're actually worth in order to sucker people into buying them is terrible.

Not to mentions their constant "All Plugins for $29" that does not in fact include ALL plugins.
It's been pretty widely discussed that plug ins get most of their sales early on and then fewer over time. To me, BX (and waves), are just trying to bring in sales off otherwise 'dead at full price' plug ins.

You don't have to buy them. So I don't see what the problem is.

If you were starting out now, for $150 you could pick up a great channel strip, awesome saturater, great bus compressor, another flavour or bus eq. All a great upgrade from any DAW tools for great value.

Also... Not sure it's accurate to say their plug ins are average. They have some really good tools. You can of course demo these.
