This is one Synth I regret purchasing in the Black Friday Sale.
My initial enthusiasm hit rock bottom when I heard all of the filters and effects in isolation.
A Flanger has a certain sound, so does a Phaser, sadly Rapid thinks it can re-invent what those effects should sound like.
I like the multi-sample thing in Rapid and Resynth but other than that it won't get no action from me, making it an expensive impulse buy.

^^^That’s what I did and after hours of testing Rapid a bought ANA2.
No granular yet but I’m sure it’s coming and it was about $56.
Something with Rapid and the overall sound.... Great synth but no my taste this time.

No one held a gun to my head. I had one night of madness but came out the wiser
I am now going to concentrate on Dune3 and use Rapid for multi-sample.

I can tell you out of my opinion, Rapid was a later purchase for me, even i got already Avenger, Dune 2 (3 later but 3 is still not a worthy full new version for me),Falcon etc.Markin wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:39 pmYou are right.Caine123 wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:27 pm you should then not IMPULSE BUY.... there is a demo which is yeah to demo... maybe you will like it when there will be more updates, it is not like IZOTOPE where you need to pay for yearly updates LOL

Avenger pissed me off because of their Copy Protection change and bad behaviour.
Dune is not comparable with Rapid in my opinion.
Falcon is a different beast and very complex compared to the other two.
Sylenth1 has less features but is still so nice VA synth.
Rapid has an own sound, i like it to combine with Dune etc. My go to would be still Avenger as i still somehow like it overall and soundwise more maybe? but Rapid RAMPS up featurewise and i just love how uncomplicated it is more and more and hopefully will kick Avenger for me some time without another bloatware copy protection.
waht i wanna say i think RAPID is not a bad buy and if it doesnt click now for you wait for some more updates.

Actually rapid can be also a quite good utility synth. My goto for designing noise sweeps and risers. The several noise samples and the osc controls/effects are very useful.

I agree that phaser and flanger are not the best. You can always use external ones though. The filters may be not the best choice for impressive resonant sweeps but they actually work quite well in context of most patches i'm making.Markin wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 7:20 pm This is one Synth I regret purchasing in the Black Friday Sale.

Play with Rapid a bit more, it will open up. Actually one if the the best sounding synths out there imo.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Doubt it very much, if Rapid shipped with Dune3 quality Filters and effects I would be inspired to Program it.Caine123 wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 8:53 pm waht i wanna say i think RAPID is not a bad buy and if it doesnt click now for you wait for some more updates.
As it is, Rapid will be my multisample workhorse and nothing more.
Your mileage may vary?

I am not ditching Rapid, I've Re-Sampled several instruments already, still a bad buy imo.

I don't know what music you make and what kinds of sounds you like but for me the wavetable effects in Rapid are where the real fun begins.
Also Rapid had some real weight and presence in its sound, it doesn't have to rely much on internal or external effects to sit well in a mix. Unlike Dune btw, this one tends to sound thin once you disable these massive reverbs and delays.
All synths have their strengths and weak points tho. I agree that Dune has somewhat better filters but it's not that the Rapid' ones are bad.

I too came to the Rapid wagon late (the 1.8.0 sale) and I don't really use it much. However there is something about it and its development that I have this feeling that it will develop into something really great/outstanding.
