I see it as an exploration into space.. some wonderful place where our souls dwell and we (well me) can let that vision/feeling/adventure come to some esoteric expression..
a mere moment in time
flowing inside the rhyme
the ebb and flow
when it stands so slow
but whose time
a universal controversial definition
of an imagined situation
not some chuff chuff station.. :P

^^^ so, basically... you're faking it as you plod along, like most everyone-else, in anticipation of some 'happy-accident'? :tu:

That's why it's good to get one of these things, so you know exactly what's going on,
which is super handy it seems. Of course, smaller and even bigger scopes work as well.
*Notice I relocated the ColdMac right next to it

I sooo want to do so, as I can definitely appreciate the feedback/visualization of what's going on, and the plethora of other functions it provides, but it is a bit out of my budgetary/priority range at the moment. I've got a couple of non-standard two channel work-arounds, that I will wait to reveal, until I get one or both mounted in the rack, and made a how'dyadothat? tutorial video, in response to the anticipated "whoa-dude!" [factored into it]... then again, it could totally suck, and I'm left with accepting the potential of being an object-of-ridicule. :hihi:

I apologise for my earlier use of the n word.

You'll get one sooner or later no doubt, I put off buying it for 2 years or something. I caved finally
because timing just happened to be good and the aluminum panels pushed me over the edge.
Definitely a worthwhile addition imho. :tu:

tbh, some of the wave shapes I had expected from things like MATHS and Wogglebug, were
a bit off from the reality of it. :dog:

Fake... omg, I'm so fed up with that word.. 4 years of it from a fake president making every thing he doesn't like fake news... geeezzz..
anyway.. when I touch myself it feels real, nothing fake here ;)
as to plod... hmmm
plod.. verb (used without object), plod·ded, plod·ding.
to walk heavily or move laboriously; trudge:
to plod under the weight of a burden.
to proceed in a tediously slow manner:

Nope... I'm quiet slim and fit and walk nimbly no weighty burden

happy accidents.. not been to a massage parlor in years.. that's endings, isn't it...

I have my rig set up to achieve goals... my instrument definitions (patches to some) are created to facilitate such visions/concepts/ideas I have... that's not to say one doesn't come across accidental sweeet spots, same as any muso when exploring and working on nideas... but my toons as such are not accidents...

Here is an example.. last year (Dec as I remember) there was some .. ermm "discussions" over religion in some music posted here (best forgotten).. however vurt posted a piece and I replied, within a couple of hours with this...

you will need a copy of the "Hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy" to understand the characters...
point is.. no accident, happy or other wise

As much as I'd like one of them, they're a bit too rich for me... however, within a few weeks of going modular I got a £20 DCO oscilloscope which is so useful for sculpting modulation and ofc examining wave forms etc.. I have seen dual channel ones for about £120 which I keep meaning to get.. but then I go and get things like the Flame Tame Machine.. which is a real beauty and so playable.

Nah, I never did... I get the newsletter list, though, and its still on the 'would be nice' list...

buchla, yeah. not euro though.
In increasing nerd order:

Guitarists with more than 5 pedals
VST
Zoia
Euro
Norns / Organelle / Bela / etc.
trackers
Buchla
Euro, but only Doepfer because "digital modules and complex oscillators are for beginners"
Serge
Ciat-Lombarde
5U, "because 1/4" jacks sound better than 3.5mm"
Wiard
test equipment
TidalCycles
Max/MSP
People who compare how nerdy other nerds are

Heh, that's cool... No worries, I'm just too cheap to buy the stuff myself, as all the figures I'm interested in cost stupid amounts of money. Like this one at $185, the stuff is almost more expensive
than eurorack!

:o that's lovely though!
hmmm more expensive than euro...
the other 'modular' in my life
lego.

ucs tumbler and 60s batcave.
i want the 89 batmobile and batwing they've just released too.
that's just one shelf
my lego is currently still just ahead of my euro spending

Sweet, lego's are definitely cool :tu: Maybe you should consider combining them with eurorack. :)

My Portal arrived today. Eli told me he dropped it and chipped a corner of the panel, then inspected and tested it to make sure there was no functional damage. We agreed he'd just send it as is and then ship me a fresh panel when they're available. But the blemish is so slight I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it.

It's a weird module for sure. Not so much a distortion module, as an analog glitch machine with different rates and types. You might think you've got it acting stable and affecting the input in a really subtle way, and then it suddenly emits a weird burst of buzzy snorts and then goes back to normal for several seconds. I'm finding that running two oscillators (one tracking the other) into different inputs offers a lot of fun too, keeping it in sync enough so it gets complex but not super harsh.

I'm not sure this is a useful module in most senses but it's going to be fun to play with and see what I can make it do. :)
