Should remember that the base mini model is $699 or €769. That is dirt cheap, especially if you already have a monitor (I don't), keyboard and mouse, I do. Everything I've seen on this model has impressed me, and since I rarely, if ever, use 24 tracks or more of VIs and audio, would be fine for me. But, I want the storage space, and 'maxing' out the RAM at 16 gb.

Things that give me pause:
I love the Retina display, getting a cheapish 4k monitor will be a step down there, and the 13" macbook would be hard on my eyes. Wait for new iMacs?
Will plugin makers take their wares native or depend on Rosetta 2, and will some be even compatible with that? My VSL SE and Omnisphere come to mind, as well as a couple of Best Service VIs.
A part of me wants to order my custom build now (1tb ssd, 12 gb RAM), but it wouldn't be shipped to me until mid-January.
Ahhh...deferred gratification....or headaches.

But, I'd say the future of Logic looks pretty damn good at this point in time.

I bought the LG Ultrafine 21.5" which is basically iMac 4K panel. Same 220ppi as the macbooks. it's the same experience as on the macbook, but larger.
Unfortunately, it's out of production and the replacement is a 23.8" 4K. - but there's just not many small 4K monitors in production, all seem to be 27" and up.

I've just sold my 13" today and am sitting on 13" M1 16 / 512 order till tomorrow to think about it a little longer. Also mid-january.

One one hand, i could wait till January if something better comes out - but it will be shipped in what, march? Or i can order M1, try to replace my Mini i7 (if most things work via rosetta it should offer similar performance) - sell the mini and wait for a beefy Mini Pro later in 2021.

First world problems lol

Those Ultrafines aren't cheap. I would wait for an M1 iMac before I spent that kind of money. My budget would be around €300 for a 27" monitor, unfortunately.

Yeah... the future of Logic and Mac looks pretty good.

U-he just mentioned that their first internal build of Diva native to the M1 was able to run 32 instances of Diva with 6 voices of polyphony per instance. That is 192 simultaneous Diva voices on a 13" M1 MBP without CPU dropouts! Wow!! (multi-core off and in 'Great' mode)

By comparison, using a 2015 MBP, they managed 3 instances (same settings, preset etc) before drop-outs.
