Pretty sure the release date has to do with when it's ready to be released. They're not sitting on a release-ready version just to make people wait. They were likely able to set release for the 15th because they finally have all features implemented and only a few major bugs left to work out, which can be done in a few days + a couple days for testing, then final release (unless they find more bugs.)

It is actually available to buy now before the big holiday spending spree. Just not for the tiny population that won't until they demo. The real complaint is the "I'm getting screwed by the pre-buy price window without getting a fair chance to demo based on my personal schedule" That's the part I think is total BS. But, I'll move along now. I've typed my bit.Hink wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:57 pm well yeah, I'm just putting a little perspective on it

Agreed!SJ_Digriz wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:04 pm The real complaint is the "I'm getting screwed by the pre-buy price window without getting a fair chance to demo based on my personal schedule" That's the part I think is total BS.
My only complaint would be, if the Custom Shop version is delayed compared to the regular version: Else, the Custom Shop is the demo version (especially if we can do the wet-dry-wet setup and "inserts"/FX returns for amps now, which was previously only available for certain packs or AT5 full).
Also, it's not like IK Multimedia doesn't do any sales... like... at all. Or pretty much everyone out there. There hasn't been really any down-time in terms of sale since like... Summer. And I'm pretty sure there will be a "Christmas Holiday" sale, a "New Years Sale", a "New Beginning" sale (2021), another "more Lockdown" sale, a "Spring Sale", an "Easter Sale", a... oh you get the damn point!
So unless you never had a copy of Amplitube up until this point (hard to pass, since Custom Shop is available for free, and Amplitube is also bundled with a lot of hardware and certain sample sales)... yeah, I also feel that the argument is kind of invalid.

The very nature of a pre-order sale is that you are buying an unreleased product sight unseen, and the discount is the incentive to enter into such an arrangement. Once it's available to buy, it's no longer a pre-order situation, so you should expect to pay the regular price starting from that point.SJ_Digriz wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:04 pmIt is actually available to buy now before the big holiday spending spree. I would rather they sort out the bugs if there are any and release it than release it early and have bugs.Hink wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:45 pm doesn't a release date of ten days before xmas really affect IK negatively? It seems to me it would have behooved them to release it with more time before xmas...a lot of people will be done shopping except for stocking stuffers, people would have more time to put it on their wishlist after a demo and/or reviews...but then people do get money and giftcards for xmas...but still I think 12/15 release is a bit odd for getting the xmas crowd![]()
To the other poster who posted about xmas expenses. I really don't think you should be buying VSTs if your finances are that tight that you have to working around family holidays to get them.

That's it, I think we should wait to release now that I've read the posts above. We did state before the end of the year so I suppose we need to stick to that. Happy New Year's Eve!!!

But seriously, folks... Yes, of course releasing it earlier in general would have been great. But we had a lot of work to do on certain leaps in the technology and this is the timing that landed best. Perhaps if 2020 wasn't such a messed up year we might have either had it locked and loaded a bit earlier or even could have just thought about just waiting until NAMM to announce and release it but I'm glad it will be out sooner than that.

Yes, we planned on releasing AmpliTube 5 CS at the same time and still do. Not to make anybody unhappy by looking behind the curtain but we also explored releasing it earlier than the full AT5 but it just wasn't able to happen. But the synchronized release of all versions is still a win, in my opinion.Compyfox wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:44 pmIf this also covers AT5CS, I'm marking the date (on the Calendar), thanks Peter.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 6:51 pm The team informs me that (barring unforeseen major crises) December 15th is the AmpliTube 5 release date.

Simultaneously this time around? Great to read.
Now if AT5CS can also use the new "Wet-Dry-Wet" feature (which I assume - since the engine is the same) and "FX Return" (Amp Insert) is allowed this time around (which I think i saw from the comparison sheet and the new routing options), then I can "surely survive until 15th December".

As A5 is an upgrade, there is a long track record that is clearly seen, which a new unreleased product would not have. The upgrade content is only seen in videos so far, but on release day, the preorder price is maintained, and relabeled in some marketing jargon ...like Earlybird...Introductory...Customer Loyalty...or New Year's Special etc til year's end. Plenty of demo time.jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:28 pmThe very nature of a pre-order sale is that you are buying an unreleased product sight unseen, and the discount is the incentive to enter into such an arrangement. There are limitations in AmpliTube 5 CS including the number of simultaneous amps, so you would only have two at a time with the CS version. You can see the comparison chart on the AmpliTube 5 web page.Compyfox wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:19 am Simultaneously this time around? Great to read.

Also, the pricing has always been called introductory pricing since the announcement. Only users/non-IK folks have referred to it as pre-order pricing from what I can see...

I think the pre-order comment was mine .. and I am an IK user
.. however, I speaking generically for the process of pre-release pricing under whatever marketing label.
