Wonderful! What a lovely document ...
This will keep me reading and learning for some time to come.
I am curious - what will the approach be to maintaining this doc? (who, what, when, where, why ;^)

Hi,
I notice that RC seems to go it's own way wrt. to VST3 folder icon:
This is looking at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 (on Windows 10)
Every other VST3 program reserves the special icon for the actual .vst3 file, which is sometimes in a subdir, while the containing folder still shows a folder icon.
Is this a quirk of my system here, or do others see the same?
FWIW, I think it is best for folders to display as folders.
If the RC install is causing this, then I suggest perhaps it should not.

I will update this manual whenever a new feature is added. However I am not able to reply to 'why'sj1 wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 1:02 pm I am curious - what will the approach be to maintaining this doc? (who, what, when, where, why ;^)

I have all vst3 plug-ins using this icon.
Some example files from the VST3 SDK:

So this seems the standard thing to do.
BTW all files have this icon in them:

Hi,
A small nice-to-have would be if the pop-up 'Track Filled' messages, instead of being identical, noted the special action in each case when the user uses (Shift-F: create ghosts, Ctrl-F: use magnet, Ctrl-Shift-F: create ghosts and use magnet).
I am moving thru the PDF page by page ... I can send such suggestions by email instead of here if desired.

wow! what an early christmas present. updated yesterday and im already in love with it. didn't realize how much i would enjoy fingerpicking with the rhythm generator! excited to see what else there is to discover.
my only issue im noticing is when i use as a vst i cannot do any of the keyboard shortcuts. for instance hitting del doesn't delete, and and d only duplicates items in my daw. im using studio one 5. thought it was just a bug in studio one but when i use keyboard shortcuts in captain chords it works in that vst specifically.

I really needed this new manual. I started with version 2 or maybe early in v3. I learned that, then over time tried to keep up with all the changes, but really needed a new recap comprehensive manual.
I started going through it and learning the basics on up again, and it was fantastic and I made some great stuff w/ RC, and have rediscovered it.
I was hoping for this when v4 came out. Thanks again very much. I do hope it can be kept updated as v4 progresses, to not repeat what happened getting lost in v3 over the changes over time. This really deserves to be updated as changes are made, and it is now a good framework to do so.

Not sure if anyone/everyone has seen this:
http://www.musicdevelopments.com/history.html
December 7, 2020: v4.03
[macOS] AU MFX plug-in included
'Open User Guide' button added which opens the updated v4 user guide (the wiki is deprecated)
Fixed importing MIDI CC's in MIDI files and other MIDI import fixes
PS About one third of all my VST3s (iZotope, FabFiler, BlueCat, NI, U-he etc) use a csutom folder icon - I like it

Yes, unfortunately Studio One gets all keyboard events... E.g. left/right/top/bottom keys change tabs for multiple plug-in windows, so RapidComposer does not even receive those keys. It works in other DAWs though. Reaper has a "send all keyboard input to plug-in" option. Some plug-ins may steal the keyboard focus, but that is not necessarily a good thing, because the DAW won't receive the keypresses:KeepInTouch wrote: Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:12 pm my only issue im noticing is when i use as a vst i cannot do any of the keyboard shortcuts. for instance hitting del doesn't delete, and and d only duplicates items in my daw. im using studio one 5.

Maybe I should contact Presonus about it? I think the only solution would be if Studio One could (optionally) forward keypresses to the active plug-in window, like Reaper does.
Thanks,
Attila
