I suspect this would be more in line with what you do/desire to do.vurt wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:06 pm glitch sounds more fun than "distortion"

Ana's pretty great, though it's generally sane and is more what I'd think of as a utility module. Portal is just a weird little monkeyShabdahbriah wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 1:11 amI suspect this would be more in line with what you do/desire to do.vurt wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:06 pm glitch sounds more fun than "distortion"

Portal's description sounds like it's a wavefolder except it wraps around instead of reversing... and it sorta does that, but the track knob causes it to crawl ahead in some unstable and mysterious way that I can't really figure. There's no neutral setting where you get the wrap without the crawl. With no input it sort of self-oscillates
The left output is the wraparound one, the right output is basically really short triggers whenever it wraps (which definitely can go into audio rate and above), and the middle one seems to trigger an S&H on the input, which turns out to be really cool, sort of a self-clocked, moving sample rate reducer.

Welp... just ordered Mutable Instruments Blades
Dual multimode filter where each side morphs smoothly from LP to BP to HP, and also from drive to folding, and there's a smooth blend control from left to parallel to serial. DivKid has a fantastic demo of it (of course)

always on the lookout for interesting modules, it's all good for research while im in the no buy zone.
rather do all that when there isn't available funds, that's where you sometimes leap before you look
done well so far, no modules im unhappy with, some that may get upgraded/replaced in the fullness of time im sure, but no regrets!
definitely a few that need more manual/video research as i know im not using their full potential, but that's on me, not the modules

was the same for me until I ordered a uno drum from IK on the 25th November. Still not got a shipping date. Very tempted to cancel and buy a TR-8S on tick.vurt wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 1:20 pm everything ive ordered has arrived within a day or two of ordering!!
Edit: in fact I’ve now asked to cancel the order and claim a refund.

I was offered a deal on a Retro Instruments Revolver that I couldn't pass up. I've always wanted a Vari Mu compressor but I wanted something different from Manley.
Blades looks cool but I would have liked having the crossfaders which make up the routing section, be patchable. Also, would have been cool if the distortion was patchable, so it could be used before or after the filters. I have a Morgasmatron and a Bifold, which take up more space but they're more freely patchable.
Is the filter topology on Blades similar to Ripples/Shelves or is it based on the Ambika's SVF?

I've recently bought an Arturia Minibrute 2S, a Behringer Neutron and a Roland System 1m. Working from home has suddenly become much more fun

Last night I "buried" my ES-6 in my case, but hooked it up to the back of my Mazzatron Mult+Passthru, so now all the inputs to my audio interface are on one module and I gained 4 more HP
And this morning I bought a Doepfer A-110-4 quadrature TZFM VCO, and a YoMo HPF to go with it (since the FM input is DC-coupled).
With this my cases will be full, and I decided that I'm "done" building my modular.
My new rules for myself are:
- Sell/trade no gear until at least May 1.
- Sell/trade a maximum of 3 Eurorack modules in 2021.
- Don't get bigger/more cases, or move stuff into storage to get around my rules.
- Don't buy any hardware synths/FX in 2021.
- Software is OK -- but I should really think about whether I need anything else (and mostly, I don't)
Since I got into modular, I sold/traded 121 modules... that's almost one every 12 days. It was fun to explore what was out there, but I think I have done that adequately now and I really like the state of my studio at this point. All this "what should I buy next? What can I sell?" thinking just feels like I'm second-guessing myself at this point. So, I won't do that anymore.
