I have finished the update and everything is OK. I have tested briefly the new plugins and the updated ones. Some thoughts:
- Analog Lab looks better with better searching tools. Presets from Jupiter-8 V3 and V4 are listed together and you can still open the old version if you want. Anyway V4 seems to be better, but I have not tested it already.
- Vocoder V is the most interesting addition to the Collection IMO. It sounds great and its useful as a vocoder, sampler and synth.
- EMU is OK. I was not interested in factory sounds from Emulator II, I don't really need a Lo-Fi sampler. But many of the new samples and presets are interesting and sound good, so it may be useful after all.
- Juno sounds good but I don't see the point of using it when you have Jupiter-8 !
- Stage-73 is MUCH BETTER than the previous version. This one is much closer to a real Rhodes, and it's a joy to play it.

Also Analog Lab 4 is not erased, I can still open it, so probably people who upgrade from AL4 to AL5 should not be worried about the 2000 presets limitation, because it seems likely that they will keep all the previous presets inside Analog Lab 4. I am not 100% sure though.

You also get Analog Lab 5 if you've got 7. I'm downloading right now. At least it showed up under V7. I do own a Minilab so maybe thats why but again the download showed up under V7, not separately.

And to whoever said its $100 per instrument....no the upgrade is for 4 new instruments to the collection, not 2. Also a major upgrade to one of them and you get to keep the old one. Always laugh when people act like its ala carte with this stuff. Whether you think those instruments are worth $25 each is a different story.

Because they don't sound the same and aren't the same instrument? I mean why have a DX7 in there when you've got a Synclavier? DX7 can do many things that Synclavier can’t, and viceversa. But Juno is basically a simpler, one oscillator Jupiter-8. Of course there can be subtle differences in sound if you make the same patch, they are not the same instrument. But I would have preferred to have another completely different instrument. A PPG would have been a more logic option for this update, as wavetables are not covered in the collection.

Comparing the oscillators in Jup-8 and Jun-6 they seem very, very similar.
The 24dB filters act quite different, both in the frequency and resonance range.
The Juno also seems to have more drift, especially noticeable at high resonance.
In favor of the Juno, it can blend together 4 sound sources meanwhile the Jupiter only has 2, although it's a slightly more complex synth overall.
I also would have preferred something different (and have the TAL version, which is already an awesome emulation, also MPE compatible), but it's such an iconic and marketable synth we should have expected it at some point in the V-Collection.

Yea, that too, definitely a huge part of the Juno sound.
I tried a bit with the chorus in the Jup-8 fx list and I couldn't really get it close enough.

I've managed to get the update installed. Vocoder will not launch in stand-alone mode, but seems fine as a VI in ProTools. It looks to be a very interesting instrument!

Gave up last night though the update process has gone relatively smoothly this morning.
The new instruments in VC8 are certainly of interest but I'm not particularly enamoured by the €/$299 offer. I purchased VC6 in Nov but I'm now questioning whether I should have immediately taken the VC7 upgrade for €/$99, I'll wait and see what the future holds.
ALV: First Impressions
The GUI appears somewhat less intuitive and slower to navigate, I'm also undecided on the aesthetics but I shall certainly give it more time and fair chance.
My Preset Bank artwork is currently missing and the store inaccessible from within the application, perhaps due to strain on the server. I have located a Multicore option (off by default) and there is also an Import Legacy option (AL4/Jup-8 V3/Stage-73), though with a compatibility warning due to the revised effects section.
With regard to factory preset culling, Jup-8 appears to have suffered the most (presumably due to V4 migration), though increased significantly elsewhere e.g. OB-Xa. As an existing AL4/VC6 owner the number available has increased but it's perhaps less appealing for a brand new Analog Lab customer.
I've only had a brief opportunity to demo the new instruments, but slightly shocked to see my CPU (Ryzen 3700X) hitting 47% utilisation on a Jun-6 preset. Upon inspection it featured 32 voice polyphony so perhaps something to watch out for!
