I would go for the AudioThing one.d2dsf wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 4:31 am I'm trying to figure out which one of these 3 I like more (if at all). Anyone have opinions?

Nice. Its look fits into the Ableton design language as well.mholloway wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:54 am Modnetic beats them all. Bizarre it wasn't included in the video above shootout posted above.

Echoes, for simple colored delays, particularly for the oilcan.
Replika
MTurboDelay, mostly for the weird stuff it can do.
ObjeqDelay, because it has its own thing.

I like two of its five echo modes (with the Vintage switch on), EHX-DM and OILCAN. The EHX-DM is quite a good Memory Man emulation imo. I don't think the OILCAN is as convincing, but it is a nice lofi delay nonetheless. Besides those two modes I like the way the ping pong works. It's on sale for only $19. For that price definitely worth buying.Magic Russ wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:12 am Echoes, for simple colored delays, particularly for the oilcan.

I've been using Replika more (as well as delays in the synths if I feel that they are part of the sound).
I want to get Replika xt, but as I'm hoping to get komplete ultimate on the next upgrade sale and it's part of that, I'm holding off
Logic's tape delay gets a fair amount of use, delay designer not quite as much as it takes some getting used to (got the old-style bad logic interface....). Valhalla Supermassive seems to be creeping in more and more as both delay and reverb.

Replika XT, Echoboy, Diffuse, Modnetic, Outer Space, Wires, Kramer Tape, Bitwig delay, Hornet Deelay Plus, Sphere Delay, Nebula. Off the top of my head, i've probably forgot one. I love me a delay!

Last time I checked not all DAWs include delays with onboard ducking or an easy, self-contained method for native implementation (ie via racks/containers in Live/Bitwig) nor do they all have native multitap and or pitch/frequency shifting delays either.jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:13 am Why not just use whatever delay is included in your DAW?
They all sound the same in the mix anyways.![]()
The basic Delay in Live is good enough for most of my bread and butter needs, but third party offerings have their use when I want something a bit spicier. I expect it's the same for most other people too.

My music is quite minimal. The difference of Audiothing Outer Space or Surreal Machines Modnetic or Audiothing Wires, it's like night and day, at least it is to me. In my music the sound of the delay can be half of the sound of the song!jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:13 am Why not just use whatever delay is included in your DAW?
