Uh...ok I'll bite. Why is that unfair? They sell single products and they sell a bundle. If you own the bundle why would you feel entitled to single upgrades? This isnt some ala carte thing. You already get a huge discount off on the bundle.
Well, you're right. I could (and would) jump to jup-v4 for $29 right now. But well, let's wait one more year! And well, right now I'm just collecting VSTis and not making music :clown:

Impressive. Moog filter engaged?

Nice patch. Simple but spot on. Curious what modules you used. I find I have to boost Diva's highs a fair bit to be where I want but then it's great.

I'm using the INIT JUPE-8 template in Diva and the behavior is far too different to compare 1:1. It could be just me, but when I *do* get it close enough in those patches where I use key follow with max resonance and filter envelope maxed out, the Jup8V v4 sounds better to me. YMMV.
Ben testing the Jup V4 and it's a hug improvement over the previous one. However I think overall I'd still give Diva the edge. Diva is especially better at darker filtered sounds, it's one of the best out there at capturing that side of analog with the low end power yet not muddy. There are some types of sounds I prefer in the Roland Cloud version and there might be a sound or two I might prefer in this Arturia one, but I think I can do without. Even though this is is far better, I still hear something in Arturia something that's not quite right to me. Many patches don't show it, but many do. I've always thought it was to do with their TAE and method of anti-aliasing. There can be this sort of smeared, almost phasey kind of sound a lot of times. The newer synths have it less, but still sometimes there.

Hi Mike,

Were you able to get the standalone version to launch in the end? If not do you have any information (which system you're on, a crash report if any) about the Standalone Vocoder not launching so we can investigate on our side?

Hello Simon:

No, the instrument still does not launch. It creates its "frame" - just a white rectangle on the screen, the disappears before painting the gui. I'm using Windows 10 Pro - up-to-date, on a HP Z-book - i7 quadcore - 16GB ram and 1TB SSD. Vocoder seems to work fine in ProTools.

Thanks!
Mike

I'll bite too, though both sides make fair points. I would certainly consider paying $29 to upgrade my Jup V3 in the interim, denying that option to a VC owner makes little sense as long as a core licence structure is maintained. i.e. Paying for a specific upgrade does not generate a standalone instrument licence.

Arturia would certainly have other considerations: How many users would stop upgrading their V Collection annually/biennially. How many sales and upgrades do individual instruments owners generate. Is there huge demand for this type of thing and would it generate positive additional revenue streams? Numerous others of course but you get the idea.

I haven't tried the Vocoder yet. I feel like it might be the real gem here, but the nice tutorial video put me off a bit with the complexity... don't have the time to dedicate to that right now - maybe I will by the time there is a better upgrade price for me.

I find I have a pattern with these V Collection upgrades. I download the new instrument demos and get excited playing with some of them. Then I compare them to what I already have and I can easily talk myself out of the upgrade. I just compared the "vintage factory" presets between Jun-6 V and TAL-U-NO-LX. I had to adjust FREQ on many presets to match them better. I kept liking the TAL version better. They both sound good, but TAL sounded livelier and more 3D and Arturia sounded smeared/mushy and flatter at times, almost like they're trying to make it sound more analog?
That's my experience as well. I get tempted by the V collection time and time again. But then find that I like my other stuff more. The Jun-6 is ok, but still prefer Tal. By quite a bit.

Great update, lousy delivery. Stalled download, crashing on installing, software center locks up and needs re-starting. I'll wait until the sale next time

Some Gearslutz are quite satisfied with the Jupiter 8 V4 and put it on a par (or better) than the Jupiter 8 from the Roland Cloud.
Could well be that Arturia has now raised the bar. But let's be honest, it was about time after 3 versions and some years of optimization.
It would be fair to offer the V4 as a free update for V3 or V2 users. Maybe the first Jupiter emulation by Arturia that has the quality which has been promised to users for years....

That is actually extremely exciting to hear and is going to be the biggest motivation to upgrade for me.

Vocoder V is genius, so much much fun dropping samples in and playing!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Does anyone here know which parameters control the Start and End points of Emulator II V?

CMI V has these parameters for example:

Track 1 StartSeg
Track 1 SampleLength

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems the Start and End points of Emulator II V can only be moved with the mouse.
