OK, this is weird. I bought the upgrade and it just shows up in my orders as "pending" though I got an email that confirms the credit card transfer. I also see there are two for some reason, but only one charge. I'm amazed that I can't just start downloading and using it instantly.

I think I like tal's chorus 60 over the arturia jun chorus. I feel like the original was larger like tals. I also feel like the filter in the jun off - depending on whether or not its supposed to be the 106. I remember using the resonance and getting a kind of overdriven sort of sound with my unit that doesn't seem to quite happen here. No big deal, as Diva/N6 already kind of covers that for me.

Hiw does the new Jupiter compare to eg Diva?

I'm using the INIT JUPE-8 template in Diva and the behavior is far too different to compare 1:1. It could be just me, but when I *do* get it close enough in those patches where I use key follow with max resonance and filter envelope maxed out, the Jup8V v4 sounds better to me. YMMV.

Ben testing the Jup V4 and it's a hug improvement over the previous one. However I think overall I'd still give Diva the edge. Diva is especially better at darker filtered sounds, it's one of the best out there at capturing that side of analog with the low end power yet not muddy. There are some types of sounds I prefer in the Roland Cloud version and there might be a sound or two I might prefer in this Arturia one, but I think I can do without. Even though this is is far better, I still hear something in Arturia something that's not quite right to me. Many patches don't show it, but many do. I've always thought it was to do with their TAE and method of anti-aliasing. There can be this sort of smeared, almost phasey kind of sound a lot of times. The newer synths have it less, but still sometimes there.

Diva is not a Jupiter 8 emulation. The only question that matters here is whether or not the Jup-8 V4 is now a fully authentic, faithful recreation. Will Jupiter 8 patches sound correct on Jup-8 V4? Do you have any insight on that after testing?

Most Jupiter-8 patches could already be recreated very well with Jup-8 v3. If I remember well, there were only problems when the LFO frequency required is too high, since v3 LFO didn't reach those higher frequencies.

What changed in the current version is the SOUND CHARACTER. It now should sound more "analog" (if that means something), thanks mostly to the new "voice dispersion" technology.

Diva certainly has Jupiter oscs, and Jupiter filters and can absolutely be configured as a Jupiter-8. So define emulation. Does Diva had a wider range of sounds and parameters (ADSR timings, envelope depth)? Yes. Does it have more LFO's and more LFO options? Yes. Can it be configured to be a Jupiter-8 emulation? Absolutely, yes. And it sounds damn good as one. I mean Diva is no less of a Jupiter-8 emulation than it's no less of a Minimoog emulation or any number of other synths it can do a pretty damn good job of replicating.

I'd rate Diva and Jup-V4 as better than the Roland Cloud emulation. And I spent over $1,500 on the System-8 hardware so you think I'd have a vested interest in thinking that one was the best!

No, since I do not have a real jupiter-8. I can only say what I think has more of a hardware analog type of sound, or compare it to Diva and Roland Cloud versions, both of which I have. And what I wrote above pretty much covers that. I can see how someone might prefer this new one to the Roland Cloud one, or maybe even to Diva, but it doesn't convince me personally as much as the others that I'm playing a hardware synth. At this point it's mostly personal preference, the Arturia Jup has gotten much closer to the big boy league of emulations (which I consider to be mostly U-He, Tal, Synapse, and NI).

Yep, can confirm. According to the manual, Jupiter 8 LFO Freq should go from 0.05Hz-40Hz, in Jup-8 V3 it goes only until 20Hz. In Jup-8 V4 it goes from 0.0035 to 30Hz (maybe a real Jupiter doesn't go until 40Hz?).

When I was fine tuning the patches, comparing the charts with Roland Jupiter-8 Cloud or youtube videos, in a lot of cases I needed to raise the LFO speed and match it by ear).

Another point that slightly triggered me is that V3 envelopes are kinda of weak, and sometimes they make a 'thud' sound that is not cool. By example, preset 23 from factory, Echo Piano. In V3 it sounds almost good, but the envelope makes it unbearable to me.. The two first patches from Jupiter 8 Factory, Neg Sync and Neg Pluck, doesn't sound good at all on V3, but they are awesome on V4.

But even when V3 sounds OK, the patches on V4 sounds just right and alive. V4 makes me want play, V3 don't.

No, since I do not have a real jupiter-8. I can only say what I think has more of a hardware analog type of sound, or compare it to Diva and Roland Cloud versions, both of which I have. They've been top tier since V Collection 6 imo

I own v6, fx collection, pigments 2 and a mk2 keylab and my upgrade price is 300e, which i think is a bit much. I expected 150 tbh with the price beeing at max between 100 and 200. Gonna wait and see.

Yep. Feels a bit wrong that loyal customers pay WAY more in the long run than someone buying full v8 today. $300 upgrade price definitely turned me away!

If history is any initiator, in about 6 to 8 months there will probably be a big sale on upgrades. If you can wait, you may possibly save a decent amount.

I've had multiple discussions with Arturia support about the fact that as a current customer, I can't complete the FX Collection (need 3 more plugins) without paying as much as a new customer would pay. It's insane and frankly, I've come to realize Arturia Sales is either incompetent or lazy -- unlike Spitfire and other developers, there is no way to complete an Arturia Collection at a fair price. As a result, I no longer purchase their products. Many other options to chose from in the market. It's a shame as I would like to continue being a customer. But I refuse to purchase from any Developer now, that penalizes current customers versus new customers.

I agree. I had a JUNO-60 for several years. Can't see what all the fuss is really, as always seemed a bit of a basic, workhorse synth to me, but liked the rich choruses and TAL's is closer to it. JUN-6 V offers a lot more programming options though than the hardware.
