Could well be that Arturia has now raised the bar. But let's be honest, it was about time after 3 versions and some years of optimization.
It would be fair to offer the V4 as a free update for V3 or V2 users. Maybe the first Jupiter emulation by Arturia that has the quality which has been promised to users for years....
Do you work for free? Only fair right since you're asking others to?

But what do the Juno waveforms look like?
Comparisons of software emulations are meaningless without a reference track of what they are aiming for.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

do you think if you did save it since?

Hi Mike,

Were you able to get the standalone version to launch in the end? If not do you have any information (which system you're on, a crash report if any) about the Standalone Vocoder not launching so we can investigate on our side?

Hello Simon:

No, the instrument still does not launch. It creates its "frame" - just a white rectangle on the screen, the disappears before painting the gui. I'm using Windows 10 Pro - up-to-date, on a HP Z-book - i7 quadcore - 16GB ram and 1TB SSD. Vocoder seems to work fine in ProTools.

Thanks!
Mike
Hey,

Thanks for reporting. I'll let the team know, but I encourage you to contact Arturia's support through the official channel ( https://www.arturia.com/support/askforhelp (https://www.arturia.com/support/askforhelp) ) so it's easier for us to investigate the issue and potentially consolidate with similar problems reported by other users.

Thanks

Is there a way to stop ASC to flood my desktop with crap? It installs one icon for every product and I have to do a manual cleanup every time ASC installs an update. With a big release like this it gets really messy.

Hi Simon,

Jun-6 doesn't install, it says it is but there's no plugins or standalone.

Mac Big Sur

Edit: Arturia support got back to me within 20 mins of sending the email.
All fixed :)
Props to Arturia support for being so quick.

Unfortunately you can not, the 2 versions are not compatible since the feature set is not the same.
You can have both installed side to side though.

Is there nobody else who wants a preset converter from JUP-8 V3 to V4 ?

If nobody wants to open V3 presets in V4 then they will continue to release a new engine for other classic synths like Mini V4 without backward compatibility.

Also if they offer only a simple converter, that doesn't sound exactly the same, because of the new engine, it would be very helpfull, not to rebuild every favorit patch again.

I remember when V Collection 5 was released, they also offered later on a converter.

I really wanted Arturia to focus on some of the older emulations like the Jupiter 8, Prophet VS/5, CS-80 etc., and bring them up to par with the more recent additions. I always thought those older synths (many going on 10-12 years now) were dragging down the entire collection and giving Arturia a reputation for making sub-par synths even though the more recent additions are really quite excellent. Those older synths were also fine for their time, but technology has moved on since 2007.

Now I understand why Arturia have been reluctant to do this. People expect them to do the work of rewriting the sound engine from scratch and making a completely new GUI for free. For some reason, people think that if they bought a plugin 4 - 13 years ago, they're entitled to a completely new, rewritten from scratch plugin in 2020 just because it looks superficially similar.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Does the new Jup no longer have the Dual option? I don't see it anywhere on the GUI.

Seems not to.
With that said.
I was not and am not a fan of Arturia's OBX-A, but I believe they did a wonderful job with this new Jupiter 8 and the Juno 6.
Kudos for that.
With a great sale I may yet buy the Collection one day.

It's a party. When the party is over, you may clean up the mess in just one go

In ASC under My preferences advanced you can check off silent install. If you do one complete "manual" installation where you check of the icons I THINK it will remember these new settings. It remembers between manual installations at least. But you'll (probably) have to install all the plugins manually one time, I'm guessing the setting is per plugin.

It doesn't have dual or split modes.
