Yep. Feels a bit wrong that loyal customers pay WAY more in the long run than someone buying full v8 today. $300 upgrade price definitely turned me away!
Same here. I upgraded several times for 200 euro but 300 euro for an upgrade while new customers pay 500 for the whole collection is way out of proportion.

I'm not used to Arturia pulling stuff like that to loyal users.

Interesting but I'm missing the Roland ACB plugin in the comparison which is the one to beat imo.

As I see Arturia people are here (which is great) I thought it a good time to ask about NKS support.

Its fantastic that many of the instruments have NKS support. I noticed that with the FX collection that this is supposed to be coming. I also notice that the new instruments don't support NKS at this time.

Are we going to see NKS for these in the end or is this a change in direction. I don't need an exact date and I'll still love your products and buy them if they don't support NKS (which would be sad) but I'd like to know one way or the other.

Could well be that Arturia has now raised the bar. But let's be honest, it was about time after 3 versions and some years of optimization.
It would be fair to offer the V4 as a free update for V3 or V2 users. Maybe the first Jupiter emulation by Arturia that has the quality which has been promised to users for years....
Do you work for free? Only fair right since you're asking others to?
Normally I’d agree, but they didn’t just update the synth engine. They seemed to have rebuilt it from the ground up with a different feature set.

Wait a minute... They did a new version of the jup-8v with a better sound engine, but they dropped the dual/split mode ? That's crazy ! I can't believe it. Such a shame. It's one of most important features of the jupiter 8, and now it's gone ?

Come on Arturia... It's supposed to be a virtual version of the jupiter 8 but now it can't even do one of the most basic function of this synth. This is unforgivable. Now we'll have to wait for V5 to get the dual/split mode back.

Arturia’s earlier versions were really no better in this respect because they never implemented true individual upper and lower outputs like the real unit does. Same issue for voice distribution in unison modes. The ability to have Split and Dual send two different presets out of two independent outputs was a huge part of the Jupiter 8’s signature sound, along with unison modes distributing the 8 voices across the stereo (upper/lower outputs) field...which made for a huge sound. This functionality has been lacking in all of Arturia’s Jupiter releases. Dropping split and dual modes is just another downgrade in my opinion....and makes the V4 version even less authentic than the original hardware it pretends to emulate.

The white on grey text on the Matrix is quite blurry and the mod destination pop-up has scrambled text at the bottom:

Can't anyone do this with two instances of the Jup-8 though?

Certainly! However, wouldn't the inability to do split and dual modes would have an impact on what the sound designers are able to do.

Not as far as the original Jupiter 8’s unison voice distribution is concerned....and there is the obvious CPU hit of two units as opposed a single consolidated unit to be considered. Work arounds aside, the current release is by no means an accurately authentic representation of the hardware version. Never has been.

I suppose you could emulate it with Analog Lab, and sound designers could take advantage of it that way. They're not limited to two instances of Jupe-8 either.

If nobody wants to open V3 presets in V4 then they will continue to release a new engine for other classic synths like Mini V4 without backward compatibility.

Also if they offer only a simple converter, that doesn't sound exactly the same, because of the new engine, it would be very helpfull, not to rebuild every favorit patch again.

I remember when V Collection 5 was released, they also offered later on a converter.
I'm with you on this one.

Another good point. Many of Jupiter 8’s presets were dependent on the use of the various mode combinations to achieve the sound it was famous for.
