MUnison has “auto harmony”, you can set voices to unison or third fifth, octave (anything really) quantized to key!

MHarmonizer doesn’t do autoharmony so it needs MIDI input :)
Thanks! Just purchased QuadraVox... or rather, I purchased SynthMaster Player to get QuadraVox for free on PB's Black Friday sale, only to download it for free one day after... :dog:

I'll see what I think of it. Like the fact that one can feed MHarmonizer with MIDI; precisely what I'd like to have. So, perhaps I'll get that as well.

I tried quadravox and it's cool, but it pisses me off so much that you can't adjust formants.

Ah, thanks. Yes, that's one cool thing about Vielklang, as change in formants gives the impression of other people singing.

BTW, for anyone visiting this thread and not knowing about these plugins or what they are capable of:

I use the CM edition (so, free in a sense) of Vielklang on the chorus of the song I link to here (chorus starts at 1.44). During the verses I use TAL Vocoder, which is something completely different, so they shouldn't be confused.

Is that a one-off ore part of the CM suite ? Sounds interesting

Honestly I don't remember: there was one CM plug I wanted that was only in a specific issue, and I wonder if not that was Vielklang. It was still possible to purchase that issue in retrospect though, at least two years ago. Vielklang is an oldie, not updated more than for maintenance since 2015 or so. It's a shame: it's really cool.

First, it sounds WAY better (=non-chipmunky vocals) than what I now discovered Quadravox does. I would never use Quadravox for backup harmonies, only for creative purposes on drums or synths (which is quite cool on the other hand).

Second, it auto-harmonises the bg chorus, according to harmonisation rules and the supplied (or detected) chord structure. One can decide how cramped together the voices should be, panning and formants. To be able to supply MIDI, the full version (or possibly LE) is needed.

One thing to take note of is that it doesn't work in real time. The reason is that for voicing (i.e. vocal arrangement) to work, the entire song must be loaded first. Basically, the problem is that the plugin can't listen into the future. Maybe MIDI works in real time though, I don't know, but I doubt it.

I don't know of any more recent plug that does this. Maybe the more expensive versions of Melodyne, but then?

...and now it gets truly interesting!

Check these comments from GS (the final one also answers the question re the CM edition):
I've said it before and I'll say it again, vielklang absolutely destroys Melodyne in pitch sound quality but Melodyne is light years ahead of everything else out there on workflow..... minus Revoice Pro's guide track pitch and timing alignment.. If Celomony bought the vielklang pitch algo and used it within Melodyne we end users would almost have the perfect correction tool."
Woah! I've never heard of "vielklang" but I just gave the demo a quick try and I am VERY impressed! EFFORTLESS pitch correction that SOUNDS RIGHT from the get-go. The results sound "solid" - not like it's hunting around trying to figure out what to do.

THIS is what I expected from Melodyne v5.
I just wish vielklang was ARA comparable for a better workflow as IMHO here is nothing better at pitch correction than vielklang. Email the developer to develop a better workflow and he could take over the pitch correction market.
Ok, found this video that CM put out for a free CM version of vielklang -> . The correction sounds really natural. Looks like the video was made with the CM version of this plugin and it also looks like it can still be had by purchasing the associated digital version of the issue it was included with. Looks like a steal. Very affordable way to pick this up.
Also note the thread is about the issues with the new pitch detection algo and overall stability of Melodyne 5. Hopefully things have improved with Melodyne 5 since the thread was as most active.

....and so, I just re-saw the entire video (in the CM edition link above). Check the auto-generated vocal arrangement at 20 minutes, and also the violin arrangement earlier in the vid. It's an amazing plugin!

The Elastique pitch shifting algorithms by zplane are pretty good, too! They're even included in REAPER and they sounded pretty natural.

But Vielklang Instant Harmony seems to be still updated and developed further.

I got Quadravox for free at Pluginboutique and still have to install it (I didn't have an I-Lock account so far and was a bit sceptical about it) but I always thought that it's not for natural sounding backing vocal harmonies at all but more as a creative effect!

Ok, thanks. Well, it is a bit strange though: Vielklang 2 arrived in 2012 (!) and it's still not at 3. I can't understand why they haven't spent more in continuous development of this tool.

Interesting that Elastique is included in Reaper. :tu:

if you want to create a true harmony effect in Real-Time with a VST, you have to use a Polyphonic AutoTune VST and use a harmonizer VST alongside it.

I combined zplane reTune and iZotope Nectar 2 Harmonizer VST's to create the Real-Time harmony effect in the below MP3, i figured it out back in 2016, because i wanted a good Real-Time harmony effect in VST so badly, because there was none.

You won't find a standalone audio plugin to do this harmony effect or any decent harmony effect in Real-Time, I have searched for years, and the reason it works so well with those 2 plugins combined together, is because zplane reTune uses Real-Time Polyphonic AutoTune.

if you want to hear an example of this harmony effect, download and listen to this MP3, and if you can't download the MP3 from mediafire, then just use the vocaroo link to stream it.
