I would buy this one if I were you:
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... e-ai-boxed
It is the same exactly what I have. It comes with the dongle but you need to download the whole lot! It is actually a small nice box with only the dongle and a card (gone are the days when you have a big box with CDs and manuals!). Anyway, I don't see a reason for the box if there is no dongle inside! But maybe you can contact them to be sure.
For the additional $100, you get midi tools (beat designer is really good good for quick beats). There are two great synths (Padshop 2 and Retrologue 2) and unlimited tracks. See the comparison here:

As mentioned in my first post I already use Cubase Pro. The intention behind this purchase is very much as a second license to fiddle around without need of a dongle, and to tide me over with some of the new features till I upgrade to the pro version of 11.5 around this time next year. And maybe later to use on a second machine with vst system link.maschinelf wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 3:47 pm I am thinking of purchasing a 2nd Cubase (Elements) license to upgrade from an AI license I recently got. I also use Cubase Pro 10.5, which I'll probably upgrade straight to 11.5 next year.

And no the boxed version is definitely not an option since I live in a foreign country and getting it shipped would escalate the cost. Assuming I eventually upgrade the elements license I plan to buy to Artist (which is possible), I will buy a dongle locally.

I see what you're saying though. Those boxed versions are special upgrades only for AI. Even with shipping and customs it would be the same or cheaper than the download upgrades. But I'll stick to Elements for now. Thanks for the help!
If someone can provide info about differences in included sound content (if any) from AI to Elements that would help but think I'll buy it anyway.

Nice! I can finally see for my own eyes how they dealt with high-DPI compatibility, because the reports I've seen were either not very positive or people were clueless about what they should expect or how it works

At least they've now added the ability to force scaling on non-DPI aware plugins, so that's something.

Because professionals wrk on 1024x768 CRT and Steinberg doesn't have time to care about peasants with hi-dpi monitorsantic604 wrote: Tue Dec 22, 2020 4:04 pmWell, it s*cks ba**santic604 wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 1:44 pmNice! At 125% majority of elements are still blurry (upscaled), there's some artifacts like an Excel "grid" poking through track control buttons, some icon graphics is missaligned, some windows display their content shifted 10-20px to the right sticking out of the frame. Incredibly, using a 900p resolution instead is much better, because it's still as blurry but much more uniform and coherent otherwise! It's incredible how such a big company that releases basically ONE version each year (there's rarely x.1 / x.6, right?) cannot dedicate enough resources to get this right...

I like the ability to use the OS scaling settings within windows for plugins that are not Hi DPI aware although that should have been there from the get go. On my 4K setup Cubase looks great as well as the plugins that are actually ones that support Hi DPI mode. It’s mostly on the plug-in developers to update their GUIs but I wouldn’t count on that happening. If a dev is releasing new plugins that don’t scale then people with 4K monitors should just take a pass on it.

What scaling factor you're running at? Can you post a good quality screenshot of how Cubase looks for you?monkeymanx wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:28 pm I like the ability to use the OS scaling settings within windows for plugins that are not Hi DPI aware although that should have been there from the get go. Is there a particular screen to take a screen shot of? The main window?antic604 wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:24 pm What scaling factor you're running at? Can you post a good quality screenshot of how Cubase looks for you?
I have a 55" 4K OLED for a monitor and I sit a bit back from it so I scale at 200% so I can still read text and everything looks good to me.
