*sigh* How soon we forget the important lessons! I give fair warning, do not read this list if you have eaten recently or plan to eat within an hour. Or ever.

How about:

"Watching Scotty Grow" -- Mac Davis

... or the most singsongy singsong ever singsung:

"Brand New Pair of Roller Skates" -- Melanie

... the eternally odious:

"You're Having My Baby" -- Paul Anka

... and possibly the worst song that can ever be written without causing a major rift in the fabric of space-time:

"I Love" -- Tom T. Hall

o/~ I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains... and rain. o/~

Friends, if we could bottle this stuff, the world would never need ipecac again.

Meffy
with apologies to all of KvR's militant Tom T. Hall fans... I love all that stuff too but have the self-restraint not to glop it all over people's radios :-}

Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caleb
I'm with Caleb on this one. Definetely!

Lot of good stinkers here, but most of them are just what i'd call "annoying", or "stupid"... Not exactly "bad". Not like Achy Breaky. Bad! Bigtime! So many years ago, but hearing this song is still making my intestines produce enough bile to dissolve a medium-sized truck!

I can't tell y'all how glad I am that "Sonny and Cher" were a figment of my tiny, 1960s-influenced brain... that they never existed in the real world, and nobody else ever saw the "Sonny and Cher Show" on television.

I tell ya, my dreams are soooo warped!

Anyhow, rejoice, all ye, that never will you know the imagined horror that would have been Sonny and Cher, had they existed elsewhere than in my fervid imagination.

If they had actually been part of reality, I might've nominated one or eight of their songs.

Back in the day, I wrote a filk to the tune of Achy Breaky -- after having to deliver dozens of copies to replace the ones that had been worn out in jukeboxes way out in the middle of nowhere. Quite often I was cheered roundly when I whipped out the keyring and raised the lid on the old Seeburg or Wurtilizer (heh) or Rowe to put a new copy in.

Only other time I'd ever got an ovation in a countrty bar was when I replaced a much-loved copy of Ray Stevens' "Mississippi Squirrel Revival."

Anyhow, I'd post the lyrics to the filk except I've forgot most of 'em, and as filks go this was a filthy filk. Can't help wondering what kind of ovation I'd've got for singing those lyrics? Hmm...

You present me with a dilemma. Click, and be devastated by badness? Or fail to click, and forever wonder?

*ponder ponder ponder*

P.S.: Thanks for the warning implicit in the URL itself. :-D

[edit] Okay, I clicked. The nice people at aprilwinchell don't like you! (But I do.)

Well, it's got a pretty groovy intro (I feel so guilty for saying that), but once he opens his mouth, you better brace yourself...for the horror that is "Pammie's on a Bummer"

what?!?! what about "Nothing's Going To Stop Us" (Oh the bitter irony of that title...) complete with big fat greasy dump of a guitar solo!!

Lots of worthy contenders for the crown here, but I can't believe no one has mentioned the horror that is "Afternoon Delight" by The Starland Vocal Band. :|
